    Thumbs down Not great conditions Thames to Coromandel

    For all of you planning on doing the coro loop on the weekend;

    Be warned, I have just got home from Corotown, there is road works most of the way up the coast from Thames to Coromandel, they have hit it big time. Looks like they started today, and the amount of machinary kinda makes me think they'll be working thru the weekend as well.

    Long periods of new seal - all loose chip like marbles, fresh tar everywhere.
    Some areas where thy're rippin it up as well, down to one lane in places with manuel stop signs operating.

    If you're still going to go up - I suggest you take the eastern road up thru Whitianga and back down that way. Or be prepared to take a real sedate pace up thru the road works and not worry about stone chips, tar on ya bike, stones flying up at ya, stopping for ages waiting.... bla bla bla.
    Lifes Just one big ride - buckle up or hang on

    Maybe we should start in the other direction, down through the gorge and up via Whitiroa, Whangamata etc? Then if anyone wanted to cut bakc early they could just go over the kopu hill and leave the rest to battle these roadworks?
