Would any one be keen on renting a room/lodge to stay the Saturday night and sharing the cost?
Thinkin that traveling from Taupo to there by 8AM will be too much in the morning, so if I am able to make it I'll be travelling down the night before.
^^^^^^bump^^^^^^
Left Wanganui at 9am, drove up to Stradford and onto the forgotten highway. Stopped at the Whangamomona Hotel and met Geoff.
I anyone is keen to do this same ride next year (early ) and book in for a night of drinking etc then we need to get in quick. He said they are starting to get bookings for March already. But if we give him numbers he can get it all set up food wise and rooms. They have good parking out the back for bikes apparently.
Last weekend he had 41 bikers drinking till 2am so it gets full.
After running into an old Army instructor who now works for MTA and the pair of us diagnosing an ill Cam Chain Tensioner for an old lady parked at the hotel I was on my way again to Taumaranui and down to Wanga's via the Para Para's.
All in all the road isn't too bad. They have been doing some work on the 12km gravel section but it isn't deep gravel, more like bike sharp stones. So some care will be needed however I suspect the road will have been traffic swept by then..
This is going to be an awsome ride and I can't wait.
Will need to set the Sag on the Monster before this as it may be jumping all over the show riding solo and the road is up down left and right with many bumpy parts...
and today wasn't done on the bike.... More lik ein the comfort of a Nissan Navara while all the kiddies learning to drive the mogs had no stereo hahahah..
thanks for the pictures mate ,looks like its gunna be a very scenic ride on the 25th (havent been on the roads were going to ride so ill be a nana and stick to the speed limit mostly) turns out ill be riding the BEAST vtr250 so that should be fun i prefer riding that around twisties as its so light and low down easyier for me to control.
ha yes and those dirt roads look like they will be interesting to ride...
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
yea news said its raining (supposibly all week) i think ,last weekend was the perfect weather for riding a,this kinda weather should tempt a few learners to escape their cages and join the two wheeler club
Hey all... Sorry, change of plans.. It seems I won't be able to make it. Hope you have a great ride though![]()
