    Any good?
We came back from Hanmer this afternoon, took a detour and did the Leeder Valley road. Nice ride, no livestock seen but there were a dozen or so patches of gravel where road works are under way. You do get to see them from a fair distance though and they were easy enough to ride around or through ... even for us Leeder Valley virgins so not a major worry as long as you keep your eyes open.

The Leader Valley road is a good ride-its the inland Kaikoura road to Waiau that you have to watch out for.All round it makes a nice ride.

    Will Drag my sorry ass

out of bed sat morn, hose the hay and bird dung of the old girl, push it up the hill and be waiting at Gretta Valley for any of you coming from south of me.
Watch out for a purple Dunnydoor between Amberley and Cheviot, the local mufty coppa only recently got it and has been pinging everyone he can.
The Garage at Gretta has new owners and is now open 7am -7pm 7 days, so for those turning off there from the inland route, a fuel up spot thats open!
Will be my first outing with you lot, so I will try to behave .

Talking Look out Whales here we go

    .

Hey there, one and all, I cant wait to get to the KB get together, it will be a blast, gonna hoon up there with IDB, so he will be riding one handed all the way, with the tortoise following him or perhaps I'll bum a lift of the old git who knows, always nice to have a rear seat look around, and guzzle beer on route,........

Just got back from a bikey mates 30th in Christchurch, went there on 4 wheels this time, met the crew at the 06 Nelson rally, and what a great bunch of people they are.....very fun to get pissed with I have to say

Went to Akaroa for the day on Saturday for lunch and man, the amount of bikes on the road, fair to say I was green with envy.

I reckon that we should have a shimmy to Akaoroa for a midsummer KB get together, dont think there is such a thing as too much motorbiking is there?

so will look to do that in February say, anybody else keen for a midsummer drinky poos and get together in Akaroa.

God I love that place, its just the best and for the speed freaks amongst you, the corners there are twisty turning and make you go dizzy.

Okay, gotta go, got double vision from getting drunk last night, going to bed late and getting up early and driving back to Queenstown........Fuck it next birthday bash in Christchurch, I am blinking well flyingits just too far to do with a hangover.

See you all very soon at the Winchester and the Pyscho Magpie.

Coi for now, and a big to all of you.

Always keen for a fang over to Akaroa. I usually stick it at 100km/h for the boring straight bits up to Cooptown (just past Little River)... but then you hit the hill and get to have some fun! Traffic's a bitch on my bike though - not quite enough grunt up the hill to take care of them fast enough - but if you get a good day you don't have many cars spoiling your fun. Been known to head over to Akarao, back over the hill to Cooptown again, think "bah, I'm not done...", and fang back over the hill again...

You musta been.... high. You musta been...

January is pretty choc a bloc with the Waikia on 11th Jan and Hoky 22nd Jan , so will look towards Mid February perhaps, or after the March Hare, as there's not much on then and we can say Farewell to hopefully what promises to be a hot summer, : so they tell us.

Oh blast! I'm getting an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. Our daughter has been earnestly searching for a house to rent for her and her daughter for about 6 weeks now. I said to Mrs Oakie when the search started "I bet it'll be the weekend of the KB get together that she'll move" (because we said we'd help her move out). Well, she's in for a house and it's now down to her and a couple of other girls with an occupancy date of ... you guessed which weekend. I spoke to the landlord earlier this evening and apparantly she's the preferred tenant at the moment.
Ho hum. Can't do anything I suppose but wait and see.

Tell her any other weekend otherwise she's on her own

I'm sure she could 'adjust' her moving weekend by one weekend eh?

Darn it. She got the flat and the moving date is Sunday 9th. While technically possible for us to still go to the Staging Post and come back early early Sunday morning, we've decided that riding back with a hangover just to start shifting heavy shit like fridges is just not worth it.
It's not all doom and gloom though. Thinking of the benefits of us having our house back to just Mrs Oakie and myself (including having loud crazy sex and being able to walk through the house naked again) will ease the pain of missing out on catching up with you folk this time around.

Have fun guys and ride safe.

    The Oakies.

PS. Dangerous. You may feel free to pour scorn on me for another no-show now.

PPS. The police have advised us the full names of two of the guys who stole Mrs Oakie's bike 2 months back. (Court dates for both are pending). Watch out for a thread on the subject some time soon.
