i'm sure if you were there on the day and someone needed a hand, they'd grab you quick smart.
reminds of when i first started going to the races (1989ish) , i was just walking down pit lane in ruapuna when a ginger haired fella grabbed me and asked me to hold a spanner while he adjusted his front forks. i was new to the new zealand scene then and had no idea who he was. i later found out he was our very own gremlin!
i guess its a case off looking keen and if a team looks short handed, offering to help. more often than not, your offer would be gratefully accepted and its a way of extending the circle of people who know you and will use you in future. if they look stressed out and get a little rude, don't take it personally, i'm sure they don't mean it!
for future reference, i like my coffee white, no sugar!
