    How does Helen Clark survive....

....on only $375000 per year. With no kids. And taxpayer funded vehicles.

Poor Helen. I'm glad it's payrise got backdated to July. It was barely scraping by.

I hope all families struggling to make ends meet (I'm not part of one, cos I have no kids, but several friends are. We are skint enough some months) remember this at election time.

She is on duty 24/7, including putting in her appearance at seemly "trivial" social functions. She probably doesn't get a chance to spend any of it. She has made the sacrifice of not having children to do the things she does for her country (a woman who has missed the bus on that one will probably not share how they feel)

How often do we see her playing golf, regulary engaging in various hobbies of her own, going on extravagent holidays etc (if she IS overseas shes usually on duty)

Katwyn - you are assuming that s/he was even capable of having children. Or the bearded non-entity could father one....
And it's a misnomer to think that pollies have no personal time.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

You'd think she'd be able to afford to get her teeth fixed

And unlimited free travel, courtesy of Air NZ, for life.

But to be fair, none of this is determined by the Gummint; the Higher Salaries Commission determines what these jokers get paid, and are very busy ensuring the salaries don't get out of step with private enterprise.
Kinda weird, given that the 'public sector' doesn't have comparable positions...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I dont begrudge her for getting that salary. If you want the same money get elected and work your way up. Simple really. Quit worrying about what other people have, work to better your own situation.

Quite right - I would be happy to pay Helen more to piss off and never come back...

    ...that would better my situation
