Well, that was fun feeding the hungry hordes! And good to meet some new KBers I haven't seen before, though I've forgotten the names already.

Racey Rider and I were fairly miffed at having to trundle out in the car, as the day and the road could not have been better. So I hope you Lucky Bastards were suitably impressed at our noble sacrifice all for the betterment of your tum tums.

Here's some pics of you good looking lot and your mighty steeds. First one is Nadroj fiddling with his crotch as usual. Give it a rest K, you already need glasses . . .

Nice day alright, many many thanks for bbq,a bit over the top with lettuce lol, onions nice too.Hope the donation covered the cost, was appreciated by us 2 fellows.

Had a beer at Stratford on way back, got home and mowed the lawns how bad is that.Met a couple at beer stop who we saw last week in Hawera doing the Naki thing, went to Tawhiti museum and impressed, well worth the look people, even have cafe for those who need one(Alistair?).

Rapt that my pillion was brilliant, not bad for someone who has gone 30km at most before,190 km return and only the odd tap, mostly when the helmet would lift, will suss out a new one.Well done to both rider and pillion,I think I've converted a non believer,so much better when she can come and not stay at home.

Can't wait till next weeks toy ride.

Once again thanks for the grub and the weather god a bloody big thank you.

Yep, a bloody good day folks! Thanks to Janno and Racey Rider for the bbq, a great idea and very sociable Thanks Andrew for comin up with the ride

Only low points were Bonez's 'off' and Sarah's brake seal

Good to catch up with some familiar faces and meet a few new ones

Excellent ride home via Taumarunui, Turangi, Desert Rd, Vinegar Hill.

Must do it again sometime soon!

Two mishaps for hondas bugger,I wasn't sure if it was my pads or Sarahs making noise as we came into Whanga last couple of corners out of the whanga saddle.

Looked at my pics not bad but dial up is soooo sloooow, impressed with new camera,so now have to look at manuel to see how to work it properly.Got a few like Jans' from up the hill, glad to see all arrived safe, can't believe I never saw a police car, mind you think I saw a mufti xr6 red,but not sure, the damn wind got up wicked from Strathmore saddle to home, very gusty between Eltham to Hawera.

Will check fuel consumption which wasn't bad,not into red zone yet and being two up,plus the hills was pretty good.

Yep great day. Thanks Andrew good idea this ride.

Only other low point I could add to 86's are Lees Ducati in the early stages of shaking itself to pieces(metal fatigue)

Unfortunately all my pictures of the day are low resolution as I forgot reset the size.

Had a good little excursion on my own after missing the turnoff to Tamuranui and got a double dose of gravel riding. Have to figure out where I went later.

    1/Hornets new Suzuki Katana 600
2/Lee trying to fit the Ducs indicator to his head
    3/Bonez pre lowside
    4/The main destination
    5/Turangi stop
6/ Low resolution stop that almost got me lost in the middle of nowhere.

    Next ride

As a thought about next ride and staying at the pub.How about if you leave say 8.30,go out to Whanga, but as they are pretty full up bed wise, carry on to the next cafe(for Al),ride back to Stratford and up to the mountain and stay in Hawera at Furlong (can get bulk booking)if 20 or so Sat night, next day can go around the coast to Manaia,up to Dawson Falls, return and carry onto Opunake, then cruise to NP,or head back home from Opunake.

Can store all the bikes at our place,5mins walk from Furlong. And have brekky bbq before heading off. Will clean the pool maybe if needed.

Only problem with it is you travel to and from Palmy on sh3.

We do have a few other areas instead of Whanga,Patea dam site has two entrances to visit,i.e upper or lower areas, both twisty roads like forgotten highway.

Just an option for late jan early feb or whenever.

Well a fantastic day weather, lunch, scenery and company. Thanks Racer and Janno for feeding us and to all for making the ride a pleasure:

Made it safely home without rear brakes but missed out vinegar hill and 86 arrived 1m before me, perfect timing

Well the brakes are a little more sick than we at first thought:crybabe: your words are prophetic as always tony !!!

Somewhere I have shed a brake pad and the calliper has shredded and wrecked the inside of the disc too, it was hard to get off and will need to order new calliper, disc and pads in the morning (going to hurt methinks):frown:

Could have been worse, could have been the front. It is fixable and nobody hurt. Good practice for engine braking but some hairy downhill moments. SK1PY gets up some momentum that's for sure.

Hope your Honda soon feeling perky too Bonez, poor girls had a bit of a day!!
