Great day out. Thanks to all who came along and especially everyone involved in organising the BBQ.

640Km's from when I left home to when I parked back in the shed.

Menie and Cowboyz if you can do that another one and a half times and 12hours of darkness you will have done the GC.

    Damn great day

Well thanks everyone, especially the bbq team and the ride organiser...

I had a great time on this ride.

Heading to Stratford from palmy was a little on the boring side with straight roads but having many other bikes there helped with that.

Once on the forgotten highway then the fun began. Followed the fat arsed RF900 as the lines YOD was taken made for a comfy ride for me, untill I wanted a little more so had to scoot past....

Got caught out once I hit the melted tar, I thought it would be sticky and grippy but nope, more like slippery and smooth. I did however like the gravel section, the Duc has nice wide bars so wasn't so bad at all. Sat as far foward as I could and let the back end do what it wanted, almost felt like I was on a motorcross bike for a while there.

The ride down to Vinegar hill from Turangi was great, 4 different brands of bike, 4 different colours of bike making rather good time. really enjoyed that. The following Meanie through the vinegar hill section was a bloody good idea of mine as I don't knwo the road to well but figured meanie did.. Other than running wide on a couple of corners it was a blast...

    Thanks again everyone

Sarah/AL hope you get that caliper issue sorted, if you need a hand gimme a yell.

Bonez old chap, hope the body ain't too sore from your bin. Good to see you back upright so quick.

Ok now my indicator issue. Thanks for pointing that out Meanie, I wouldn't have noticed. Have rewired it this morning and just have to make a new bracket to fit it to the bike.... NOT MY HEAD GARY!!!! Hadn't noticed you taking that pic lol...

Yeah Meanie is the one to follow through Vinegar alright, particularly at night with those headlights on the Concours!

I dont personally think it's helped one iotta, it's weird coz everyone else seems to be getting varying degrees of success out of have a sheep skin on but Nooo not me!

This is weirder than an alien abduction eh! It may have been due to massive overheating which has 'welded' the aluminium caliper to the disc and allowed the inner pad to be flung out somewhere on the road. Just need to get a set of pads and she'll be up and running again!

It must be the riding position Sarge. New bike by any chance then?

I was thinking on the way home yesterday (wishing like hell I could ride my bike more than a 100 clicks without getting a sore backside) I was right in not doing the FH ride cosidering the planned distances between stops.
