Hi. Yes they gave me a dirty little note for putting my cell phone number in the comment/question about having spares for these beasts. If you or any other member is keen I have a nice clean straight pair of forks, wheels, frame in fact everything you will need to turn this back into a nice street bike or of course a great bucket.
Good luck with the sale. Just a note, if you got offered a grand for it I would take it , thats certainly good money in my view.

now for a bonus; i forgot to check the phone number box on one of my trailer auctions, and cannot edit now bidding had begun. so, in the comments i explained this, and then in another comment, said "viewing welcome, 02xxxxx"
sure enough comment removed. now while technically in breach of rules by the letter, does it really matter if it's an auction where i can legally have my number anyway? letter of law vs spirit of law (this is my big issue with TM and rules, especially when they wont enforce either on big-time sellers)

and they deleted my responses to a curious bidder asking why my thread had been deleted too - but still not removing the comments i asked to have removed - obviously they dont want me discussing it

so asking to get banned from tm right now

EDIT: they just removed my thread where TM community was having an active discussion, mostly against me also.

so i got fed up and called trademe at $1.99 per minute plus GST

honestly, the best phone service i've ever had. girl was helpful, put my phone number back up, explained that the bike listing needed to be as a bike regardless of condition, and said she was going to look into the mod who did all the editing of my auctions. she also removed the comments i wished removed. didn't however, have an answer for my threads on the message being removed.

all in all calling them was a good idea, as they still haven't emailed me back.

Well this might be a dead ol' thread but I stumbled across it somehow while trying to find members who have or had a TT250 at some time, but that's another story. I've spent way too much time buying and selling on trademe and have picked up a couple of tricks that will get you out of this dilemma.
The easiest way to bypass the rule about not including your telephone nuimber when a buyer asks you for contact details is to spell out your email address, or telephone number as the turdme guys use robots to troll through the listings all the time to check for illicit telephone numbers etc. I haven't been caught for ages doing this so I think it must only be the occasional report by a disgruntled buyer that will catch you.
The other approach - and a totally fool proof one at that - is to run another ad simultaneously that is allowed to have a phone number, like a wanted ad for example. You will have to fork out for the extra ad but wanted ads, and vehicle for sale ads are allowed to have a selection of telephone numbers on them and the savvy buyer knows this. The first thing they do is look to see what else you are selling.
Wanted ads are listed under automotive categories and not in the bike section - probably because the turdme dorks all drive cages.

i emailed them countless times to get the bike search to change the cc feild from 200 400 6 8 10 to 250 500 750 1000 etc

thing is, i was asking them to actually use standard bloody classes (50 85 125 250 600 1000) and they still got it wrong!

and i wouldn't dare ask for two and four stroke categories withing the dirtbike section cause some selelrs don't even know, and alot of them deliberately do things like list cheap chinese replicas/ripoffs of hondas/yamahas as the jap bike instead of the pit bike category!

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm normally only looking for four strokes but you have to wade through all the YZ's and IT's to find them... I'll send them a request re the cc thing. I did manage get them to add the South Island/North Island sorter so you never know.

    cheers

what would be the best cc setup you reckon?

    50 85 125 250 400 600 750 1000 1200

covers most the bases without too many options, though sellers might want to list the cheat zx636 as a 600 (which is a reasonable thing to do)

Yes well that's the whole crux of the matter. It would probably help if we all ask for the same thing.

I would guess: 50, 125, 250, 500, 650, 750, 1000 and up. But I don't race so maybe the race divisions would be more appropriate. What about the VMX classes?
I would also like to see the two stroke/four stroke selector as well as registered/not registered and wof/no wof.

AND PARTS WANTED IN MOTORCYCLES WOULD BE NICE TOO

yea that would work too, but i had 85 in there for the small offroad

fact is that trademe's search function is absolute rubbish

"fxr150" and "fxr 150" will get two different sets of results

Ok I have filed a request under the "contact us" section asking for the groups to be changed to 50, 85, 125, 250, 500, 650, 750, 1000 and up. I have also asked for filters for two/four stroke, reg/no reg and wof/no wof. Anyone else agreeing with this should do the same. Lets see what they do...
