    Suspension announcement, Robert Taylor

Effective from last November 26th I have moved my specialist suspension business to New Plymouth. After too many years of working ridiculous 80 plus hours weekly I have done the obvious and sought help! Having just clocked 50years it is obvious that I need to stop abusing my body but to also begin to pass on my craft and empirical knowledge to a long term successor ( to be selected in the fullness of time )

CROWN KIWI TECHNICAL is a new company that I have formed with 96' World 500 MX Champion Shayne King. Moving from the UK to be our operations manager is former 500 MX competitor James Marsh, known to many MX competitors here. This will ultimately relieve me of time sapping paper war and marketing activities and allow me to concentrate on the technical side.

This will also ultimately allow a serious reduction in lead times for service / repair and specialist scratch build etc. Not only for Ohlins but for the many mainstream brands out there that we are abundantly familiar with. NOTE THAT WE ARE NOT ABOUT BEING THE CHEAPEST, WE ARE ABOUT BEING THE BEST. ( With the absolute best products )

CROWN KIWI TECHNICAL is the authorised and EXCLUSIVE distributor to NZ of OHLINS motorcycle and automotive suspension products. As a distributor of a very high quality and performance product we provide a level of service and equipment well beyond anything else on offer, including a sophisticated shock dyno. This dyno in no small way has assisted in developing specs for not only NZ championship winning riders but also for everyday road riders seeking suspension compliance, ride height control and improved tyre life etc.

Under review will be the whole issue of nationwide servicing. Suspension is a safety related product, and at the risk of being vilified by some there is much work I have evidenced that has clearly been done by people with really only enough knowledge to be dangerous.

MY MESSAGE IS, CHECK WITH US FIRST TO VERIFY WHO WE CONSIDER CAPABLE OF SERVICING OHLINS SUSPENSION TO A SUITABLY SAFE AND PROPERLY FUNCTIONING STANDARD.

Sister company Crown Kiwi Enterprises is the EXCLUSIVE distributor of RACE TECH products to NZ and to that end CROWN KIWI TECHNICAL is to be a showcase RACE TECH CENTRE. Many Race Tech installations are in fact a compliment to Ohlins e.g a front end refit to match a rear Ohlins shock etc. We will also be able to do a level of rekitting oem suspension ( where suitable ) and be able to dyno verify what we expect to see for the intended application.
Early next year new purpose built premises will be completed, followed by an official opening with key industry people and dignitaries including a senior manager from Ohlins AB, Sweden. This is a serious new venture that is going to lift the game substanially in NZ. STAY POSTED FOR MANY EXCITING INITIATIVES THROUGH 08 AND BEYOND.

In the meantime business as usual out of our temporary workshop.

I will continue as time allows to offer answers to suspension related questions on this forum. Please be aware that I am always busy and it sometimes takes a while to reply.

    Regards to all,

    Robert Taylor

    Thumbs up

CONGRATULATIÖNS Mr T and partner(s). May your success be happy and long.

Good luck with your venture and THANK YÖU for my new found ÖHLINS rear; which arrived last week, It was fitted that night and hasn't seen any action as of yet. In the meantime I can attest the stuff isn't cheap, however the service is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable and i'll let ya know how the rear gets on in good time.

    Cheers,

    BoÖmer

I'm sure you're happy as a pig in mud to be out of Hawera. I know I would be. Good move.

New place, new people, new name - sounds pretty envigorating for a reasonbly youngish looking 50 .............(does that keep me on your good side Robert).
Makes sense to me - all you need to do now is import some of those specialist blonde Swedish Ohlins girls that enjoy tooling around on your specialist slippery shafts to work with you in the shop & of course to bring along to the racetrack to give the riders a helping hand..

Maaaate, if you cut down on the "self abuse" you might get a bit more work done.....although congratulations are in order for recognising you have a problem and seeking assistance. Let me know how the therapy goes, my current therapist has pretty much written my off as a lost cause so a recommendation would be appreciated.

D'oh! I don't know what qualities you'd be looking for in a potential successor but I'm kinda guessing I just blew my own chances huh........?
