To include aversion and discrimination is a to alter the meaning of phobia.

One may for example discriminate on religious grounds without having any phobia.

I guess in this definition, the discrimination was treated as a by product of the aversion, which in turns comes from the irrational fear...So I guess it is more meant to succintly explain a thought process or consequences of a phobia...

For example, a phobia of spiders...the person will discriminate all spiders, regardless of size or actual capacity to cause harm...and will also display a strong aversion to spiders with more often than not great physical displays of the said aversion.

I guess they only had so much room in the dictionary to explain it...

Thus they could have omitted the erroneous descriptions, saved room and ambiguity - a win/win situation.

As it is, it looks more like pandering to a minoritys attempt to get the net cast as far and as wide as possible.
