[QUOTE=chanceyy;1354783]kinda done it once or twice on a car (stock car) but never a motorbike .. apparently there is still a heap of pad but they can do with a scuff up as well

They don't have brakes or brains in stockcars lol.Well the one I helped on didn't have much brakes at club day years ago,so when mechanics race 1 ended and the driver used the light pole to fully stop,I said no thanks to race 2.

i have to admite my first cemetry look and was very impressed, they only thing that let the day down was pissed teens not able to control themselves yet again!

the racing was fantastic, with the odd rider going for a slide.

Just got the claim form faxed away about 2 hours ago, hmmm I got serious doubts as to wether it would be done in a week! Once they get the go ahead and they have all the parts I cant see it taking anymore than a day to actually fix it coz it's only cosmetic damage really apart from the radiator. Sugilite was round here the other day and were discussing it and he reckons it will go close to being written off. I would'nt be overly surprised if it were.
Tally it up radiator maybe $2000, headlight $400, fairing $2000, footpeg assembly $200, engine sidecover $200, rear footpeg hanger $100, handlebars and handlebar posts $250, brackets $150 plus labour maybe 8x $75.
That's $5900 as a very rough guess could well be much more than that...
Who knows, time will tell, if thay had all the parts in NZ which I also seriously doubt once it got approved to be fixed then yeah, a week from that point should'nt be that far out but if bits need to come from Japan the automatically puts another 2 weeks on to it
I am working on the assumption that half way mark of the value of the bike would be the write off point.

jesus yea thats very expensive ,well by the looks of it im guessing write off would be a better option wouldn't it ? as you might not get that bike back for many months to come if ya have to wait for all those parts from far and away places

only hope for your sake they pick an option sooner than later so your not going to miss all the great rides before its back to work

Meh...finacially it would probably be better if it was'nt coz as I said it's only cosmetic and if fixed PROPERLY you wont be able to tell it from new but on the other hand there is a really nice lowish milage '04 R1 in candy red down at TSS in the Hutt.

haha yea i felt the same way after i brought my latest steed, next day surfing trademe and saw a yzf r6 with pipes and lots of other bling for $7500 ,it was like a superbike vs a budget range for the same price .i know which i wouldve picked if i had the money back

mind you i think i wouldve crashed that r6 if id have brought it before this ,probly wouldve been the dumbest choice of bike for a person my age IMO

It really did look very unloved. Specially as it was next to the R1 that the whole crowd wanted to look at. Gixxer 4 ever

newsflash - there is a blue '02 R1 at Freedom Honda for $11.5k (i think thats right) but only 6900km on it....(apparently)

FINALLY getting a spin on the RF tomorrow - I asked the wife if she would kindly chauffeur my parents to Hawkes Bay whilst I ride up....can't wait....must be at least 2 weeks since I been on the bike!
