    KLR650 x 2

I just went to look at a KLR650 on TM. He had two of them. 2005 and 1987. I was interested in the cheaper one but ... couldn't decide (have to sell mine first). The 2005 one (Black/Red) was very good, and had an aftermarket pipe - Staintune - I think. Only point was the gear shift lever end had been welded on - musta bust off at some point, as evidenced by the footrest marks (could easily replace the gear lever). Still, it is a good un if you're interested. And he's leaving NZ in under a week ...

I've just upgraded my bike recently but my last bike was a kawasaki Tengai 650 which the frame and running gear are based on the KLR 650. The reliability of this model is renouned and if his 2005 has only 25k on it I would definitely put an offer in. I got well over 110k on my old one and it was still pulling strong. If your into adventure riding you can hardly pass up this opportunity. KLR's are a very reliable machine. Good luck in your decision.

I love my KLR but there are some questions around pre-2008 model balancer chain tensioner lever reliability. Google "doohickey"
I also got a price on a Staintune muffler for mine. Nice. but I think 10% of the whole new bike price just for a muffler is a bit excessive.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Im Having all soughts of probs with my 08 KLR, at 4000km it started having fuelling probs of some kind, got it serviced, carbs apart etc etc ,ran fine until about 3000 kms into my recent SI trip then started it all over again. Love the bike, hate the issue Im facing at the moment.
Think If they cant fix it I will tell them to jam it up their botty hole !!

The new BMW800 is of interest though, so is the new KTM 690. when they get here I might be keen. How about a new model from Yamaha with a decent range and wind protection...anything coming out soon?

Bugger all that can go wrong with carb unless it's getting dirt in small places. Do you have an inline fuel filter? If you've had a tank full of dirty fuel at some stage it's going to cause problems for a long time

Theres a lot of discussion on the boards about the new Yamaha Tenere (personally I think it looks real ugly, but thats a KLR opinion) but there seems to be some weird marketing logic about where it's being sold - ie Europe get it but USA and Australia dont
