integrated led tail lights

Late last I week I received the integrated led tail light for my CBR which I bought off Ebay.

Putting the YELLOW power plug from the new tail light into my bike was no problem. All you had to do is unplug the bulb adapter from the original tail light and chuck it on the new tail light.

There's also the two wires which I know is for the indicators, but with it's freakishly weird shape, it doesn't fit.

The main issue is this, the whole thing doesn't light up when I have the power socket connected and ONLY the power socket. I do have to consider the indicator wires, but it doesn't fit so I am not bothering with them.

My mate has same bike, and I did the same thing and still no light from the tail unit.

I've heard you specifically need a blinker relay for the LED tail lights but then again I wouldn't know better. I thought it might be inside the Tail Light but who knows? It didn't come with any instructions, but guessing it's just plug and play.

The other thing is, the whole might be broken so I just have to send it back. I am considering taking the tail light to an electronics store where they can diagnose it straight away.

Any ideas?

See the big yellow round thing with 3 wires?

It slots straight into the black round adapter then it plugs into the power socket at the back of my tail.

The black adpater is from the original tail unit and it connects to your normal filament bulbs.

The thing blue wire and yellow wire, I am sure are for the indicators...

those are the exact same connector types that my rear indicators are on the katana ...

ahh and probably because u own a katana i see... so im not sure why u cant fit them

Just a side note, expect WOF issues. A lot of testers are now failing intergrated tail light/indicators. I had to convert back to standard indicators.

On what grounds mate? i had the wrong or no numbers on the lens thing but then the suzuki guy rang me a few months later and said bring it back as he was wrong.

They dont like them because they arent as visible as standard indicators. I know they do comply with the angles of visibility but my one atleast was very poor in direct sunlight, it was a clear alternatives brand. It was a bike shop that failed me on it, surprisingly vtnz said they didnt like it but couldnt fail me on it. I know there are other places failing people on them. *shrug*

the new harley nightster has them standard!
If that complies with LTSA compliance rules, then somebody has to answer some questions .
Most american cars have the same type if intergrated tail, stop ,indercator in the one lense, again LTSA compliance certified.
I would be telling the W O F bloke to get out the rule book and quote his rule.
Very sure that OME fitted tail light/ indercators are fully legal

Same brand as i had,like you i didnt think it was bright enough so got rid of.Strange as it sounds the non led indicators that came with my undertray are much brighter.

Mike: At least having standard bulbs means you maintain a good flash rate. The previous owner put an undertail on my bike but is pretty minimal fibreglass. I just brought a pair of motrax stalk indicators, damn expensive at 80 odd dollars each but they do the job and are styley led ones.

Interesting arrangement of wires, the Clear Alternatives uses yellow for both indicators... Bar the yellow and blue, the yellow? plug should receive your oem plug fine (should). Indicator wires are then connected to live? of each indicator.

I never liked the indicator plugs on mine, so I removed, on one bike, just wired it in connecting the wires together, on the next, put the oem links onto the integrated indicator wires.

Law seems to change endlessly, but it does depend what unit you have (model of bike etc). My first unit, the brake and indicator would be on at the same time, washing the indicator out, fair enough. On my second, the brake doesn't show on the relevant side, if the indicator is on, very slick.

Cause my one has the 'E' mark, surely they can't fail you on that.

It's understandable when they don't make them bright enough and on a bright sunny day, you get the sun rays blocking it.

Have you ever noticed that those clear lense lights on cages in bright sunlight are invisibile?
When truck driving and bike riding I have had to be very carfull at roundabouts to be sure of the other vehicles intentions on a sunny day.

Some makes are worse than others,
