How many times, eh? Eh? Eh?

It was an interesting video... One of those ones you have to watch over and over to see the details.

Seems the girls like blood, eh!

Wouldn't call it sick though - although macabre it's a pretty fascinating video!

    wow what footage.....!
That truck driver was driving too fast... and the scooter rider was changing lanes and got clipped by the truck.

I doubt the scooter rider even knew what happened to him/her, as it was all over so fast.

The truck had a full load on.... and the truck driver didn't allow braking distance between himself and the scooter.

    RIP to the scooter rider.

I came close to taking out a chick in a 4x4 as I was approaching Putaruru from the north. Stupid be-atch (heading to Tirau) was overtaking a bus around a blind corner towards me. She damn near crapped herself as she just sqeezed between the bus & my........

Big green Army truck that had 12 1000lb bombs on the back.

No way in hell I could move without rolling & crashing. Had we met head on, I would have had a nice gentle slow down as I would have used her entire vehicle as my crumple zone. She would have been toast.

Well I've just watched the video, and it's pretty horrible. However, I must disagree with some of the posts here. I see this as most certainly being the fault of the truck driver - I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's never ANY excuse for hitting someone from behind. The truck driver is going WAY too fast, right up the arse of the scooter rider. He ASSUMES that he knows what the scooter rider will do (which is plain stupid in my book), and caused that accident. I hope he was charged criminally.

So what you guys are saying is - if you hit a car that's doing a U-turn it's your own fault?

Anyway, I don't think this is from NZ. When someone has established where this is filmed and what the local road rules are we can start about placing the blame.

Just because you're on two wheels doesn't mean you're right and don't have to watch behind you.

Scooterboy lost - that's for sure. Placing the blame is academic - but he was at least partly responsible for his own demise.

My cousin used to ride his 10 speed from Palmerston North to Bulls on the weekends coming back from Uni. He was a clever guy in his late teens doing training to become a Pharmacist. Was almost home, arrived in Bulls and at an intersection a truck passed him and then turned left into a side road. Similar result. Was a real tragic thing to happen, my Aunty has never really recovered from it. Poor lady.

That video is the first time I have thought of the accident in over 20 years. Bloody shocking but important for the skidmarks of this world to see. Respect the ride, message coming out nice and strong.

I have used a pushy to commute for years and had a couple of cars do the same thing. Very painful results as I flew over the cars on both occasions, but no worse off than a bin mountain biking. A truck doing the same thing, scary shit.

With an avatar like that... YES you are!

But seriously, at least 8 or 9 times. Theres so much to watch, from the first time he is under the tyre till that last bit of splat! Poor driver having to live with that!

    ITS NOT REAL

For those a lil more gullable, watch it again & look at how the arms flail about on impact. Sorry but they aint real

The "scooters are alright" attitude is what causes the problem in NZ (And probably most other countries). If I told my mum I was getting a SJ50QT I'd be sweet. But the SV650S took some convincing.

    Because slow = safe, Right?

This is why owning the lane or pulling over is so important.

That is exactly what I get the shits when I see learner and scooter riders riding hard left at 70km/h on the motorways (and 40km/h in city streets). People will try to pass in the same lane.

From what I could see the truck was passing the scooter because the scooter wasn't owning their lane.

Unfortunately the scooter decided to change lanes at the point where the truck driver couldn't do shit.

    Either way it's bloody gory.
