I am thinking of investing in a SLR Digital Camera and a telephoto lens.

Any recommendations and how do you carry your cameras?

Do you have one of those fancy camera backpacks?

Good question. I bought a Canon 40D with a Canon 100-400 professional telephoto lens thingies. While it's way beyond my current capabilities, it's a fantastic bit of kit. The lens is outstanding... literally, and herein is the problem. It's just too big and heavy to carry around on the bike when your more inclined to take photos of stuff.

Big Dave has the answer. Compact, good kit.

I have always used a SLR - film and now digital, found an inexpensive camera backpack, to store all my gear in, then if I'm on the bike I take what I need and fit in the tank bag... I have a separate carry bag for the lens so it does not get damaged.

I use a Canon EOS 400d with either a 18-55 or 75-300. Too bloody hard to carry on my bike, so I have a sony compact in the bum bag....

I just found the pic below and it reminded me of one of White Trash's post titles

Anyone get any good shots of Supermoto 999 (KTM green leathers-bringing up the rear)?

When I was on the infield of Manfeild taking pics I rarely went outside the 70mm-100mm range and they turned out pretty good.

Lousy effort by me. Only had shots of 50 and 75. And they look like I've had a few too many. I've uploaded these at a higher resolution that's over the KB limit so if you guys want the photos you can download it from http://picasaweb.google.com/lim.sim/...HeroesOfPaeroa

There's a link to download the pictures on the right side
