As per title up for sale is my current pride n joy...
A 1994 RF900R
I will list this on TM at a higher price, $3950 is for KB'er members only
I got her 1st of August last year at 75 thou & have placed an ear to ear grinning 15 thousand since then (90,000km currently).
If your looking for the best value for money fast road bike then you simply cannot beat these bikes, nothing will come close at this price range. I did a huge amount of homework prior to buying it so can say this quite confidently.
The RF900R was built as a stop gap bike to slip between the mighty GSXR 750 & GSXR1100. In doing so they used the bottom end from the 1100 motor which obviously has a lot less stress. The 1100 motor was already famous for being bullet proof which has in turn made the RF's power house that much more reliable, these motors are good for HUGE mileage some have said 200,000 plus.
I have serviced the bike 3 times since ive had it, the last was Sunday 24th. Have a very near new 180/55/17 Metlzer Z6 on the rear & a brand spanking new Metzler Z6 on the front. Have put brand new sprockets & an X ring chain on 10,000km's ago as well as a near new rear brake disk & a full set of sintered pads all round (the pads get stickier the hotter they get). Also switched the speedo over to a brand new mile an hour one, actually shows both mile an hour & Km/h but reads the distance in mile an hour. Only reason I did that is the original one only went up to 180 (still have the original which will be included in the deal). I also just replaced the broken speedo cable. Also comes with the packrack & even the key for the lock nuts (very rare). Brand new wing mirrors with longer stem's which gives you so much more usable visual area.
The motor runs like a dream, no knocks or rattles, just purrs along, has never given me any of trouble or the previous owners to my knowledge.
She develops 135BHP (118 at the wheel) with a 100nm of torque @ 10,000 (redline 12,000) weighing in at 203kg dry, will pull zero to 100 in 3.1secs & top out at 165 miles an hour (265km/h) so as you can see it's not too far off the latest bikes.
A really easy bike to ride all round, city riding is no problems at all & she just loves the open road, you just have to watch out when parked on hills, if you loose your balance past a certain point she is gunna go over............I know I did it twice in the first week of ownership, one on either side
So yeah the paint job was tip top prior as it hadn't long been done. Other than some of the obvious overspray on cables in a few places & a few stone chips on the front it's a very nice paint job plus the two stationary drops on either side.
Im only selling as im looking at upgrading.
Can't think of anything else at this stage, any questions fire away.
ps: almost forgot.....in the side compartment I mounted a twin power point & wired it to the battery for cellphone charging, a light (if camping) & of course a radar.
And here is a link to the picture (and the full story) of one of the drops. The other drop pales in comparison to this one, hardly any paint came off.
