From a press release issued by Corona Extra Honda Racing:

Jones, hailing from New Zealand, raced selected SuperBike races in 2007. "I am really honored to be riding for the Corona Extra Honda team in Supersport at Daytona. I tested the bike out at the Fontana test, and the bike and the whole team were just super”, said the 23 year old Kiwi.

I saw the photo someone posted of him at testing and wondered if he's scored a serious ride, great stuff.

Lets all cross our fingers, toes and foreskins for a great season, so that when Miguel Du Hamel finally decides to hang up his leathers (it must be one of these decades surely) that Dom can slip onto a factory steed.

Neil Hodgson will be taking care of that for him mate! Neil is just about to become Dom's Mentor in the USA if Dom wants his help

Good size field in supersport (Doms name not on the list yet, note that this isn't the final entry list yet)This is off the AMA website, a few big guns in there too, I imagine it to be a much closer and balls out class than the superbikes!

How's this for part of the gig - especially the reference to the 'Corona girls'

From a press release issued by CEHR:

CORONA EXTRA HONDA RACING 2008 TEAM MEET & GREETS AT DAYTONA

Corona Extra Honda Racing will be out in force this week to meet fans and show off the 2008 Honda CBR1000RR SuperBike at Bike Week in Daytona, Florida. Team “pilots” SuperBike Matt Lynn, SuperStock Jake Holden, FX Steve Atlas and SuperSport Dominic Jones will be signing autographs and giving out Corona “goodies” throughout Bike Week. They will be ably supported by the gorgeous Corona girls so if fans want a picture with any come along to the events!

Yep, a bit of fast patience tomorrow. Getting into a fast group looks like the answer, so he's got to get a flier off the line - at least he'll be in the first wave, which helps.
Partly cloudy, warm, little wind - ideal.
    Cheers

Started 23rd - finished 23rd! Sort of weird to not be able to make up any places, but Daytona can be like that, bikes circulating within a few seconds of each other and unless they have a speed advantage, can't seem to get into a draft. The results page only gives laps not times, of those who were lapped. Ben Bostrom won by .012 sec. over Josh Herrin
We'll have to wait until he writes us to find out what his race was like, unless I can get to see him on Saturday by wangling my way past the pit security and looking for Corona girls.
    Cheers

    Sad at Daytona

    Hey guys.

Yea Daytona didn't go too well for us with not time on the bike and abit of this and that. Kinda sucks. We did ok moving to like 15th or 16th at one stage but with running off the track twice, we kinda went backwards and just sat there for the rest of the race.

We came away realising we just need some more time on the bike, both the team and I. We got some tests planned at Barber next week and maybe another two out in California before the next round in mid April so by then we kinda have no excuses. The bike is everything we need to run up front so just got to get out there and do it I guess.

O yeah, my thoughts go out to the families of the riders that passed away at Puke last weekend. No racer ever likes to hear stuff like that.

    See ya
    Dom
