Subike, trying to justify what we do is futile - to try and suggest that a 200kg bike at 160km/h cant so substantial damage is just silly.

im not trying to justify the action.
in the contex of the question
    a car is safer?
neither are safe when the boundries of saftey are passed.
but I guess you could apply the question to many situations,
    all a mater of perspective.
using a public road as a race track in any vehicle has the prtential for disaster on many levels.
Racing is for controlled roads, with supervision and safty gear avalabile for the use of in case the worst happens.
raceing on the public road is not what I think is good to do when the roads are used by those of a differing mind set. Ie families out for a country drive
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.

travel in packs and race on public roads
Though they usually travel close to the speed limits when they are in these big groups late at night because they know the cops are watching them real close. (apart from the odd traffic light GP, that is)

The question is - what if these groups turned into 230 km/h flat-out races in the middle of the day?

Answer: Complete carnage and threads on KB pissing and moaning that the authorities should do something about it.

They probably do have such drives. What we need to do is send an undercover KB'er over to their forum, he could have a name like, say... Subaruman. He could start inflammatory threads under the guise of road safety then exercise (with great futility) his will upon them. In no time they will be all thinking exactly like he does and his world will be complete. In order to protect his real identity, he will need to close his membership at KB. We will miss you katman Opps, I meant

Actually, the tuka's are a racetrack. Anybody who treats them as a road should get ticketed for careless use.

Just mentally label them Hezbikkah and move gently out of the way.

Katman meet sugilite-motorbike racer in Nz for as many years as I'm prepared to admit to.
Sugilite meet katmat . Nz bike rider not currently raceing but currently supporting a bike racer through his buisiness.

Coro loop, any difference between car racers and bike racers, seems a lot here go on how fast they can do the loop on a bike.Just part of maturity the fast riding/speeding,mind you some don't grow up,hey I still drive the car quick at times,as much as anyone does, bike is a little different, too easy to loose my license.

We had an event called Americana this year as well as last in the Naki province.Seems last year they had a parade around the main streets of NP,a few complaints of burn outs being done, was no wonder the boy racers were pissed with lack of traffic tickets issued,if it was boy racers there would've been an uproar.

While i may kind of agree with the sentiments of the post, i find it hard to listen to road safety message from someone who believes people dont remember accidents because they are embarrased......

Nothing wrong with the boy racers having a play on coro loop. The real sports cars do it but unfortunately the boy racers won't because theres no one to show off to in rural areas.

What's all this nonsense about 'fastest time around the Coro loop'?

I don't know of anyone who actually time-trials themselves around those roads.

Personally, I have no idea how long it takes, what with all the stopping at Coroglen and Coromandel and everywhere else for vast quantities of shit-talking, etc.
