Ruapuke beach is now totally roped and gated off. (thanks DOC)
A low tide ride from Kawhia's Ocean beach, to Aotea inlet channel could be on the cards later though.
Three routes to Kawhia are available and can be discussed over lunch at Raglan.
Old Kawhia Rd, (with my favourite stream).
    Te Papatapu Rd.
And finally Ian's attempt to jump his DR across Aotea harbour bar.
All those in favour of #3............. carried. Attempt will be made by Mr Crisis Mangament. Your a good keen man.

Yay! I like riding on the beach. You wouldn't think so but the wee RS even with its road tyres skips over soft sand quite nicely.

    Right then.....for the Ork contingent
In general discussions, it has come up that taking an interesting route and riding at a moderate clip, it takes from 3 to 3.5 hours to go Drury to Raglan. We are planning a fairly sedate pace for this Saturday and so it will take longer.
Now we could take a more direct and less "interesting" route, but that kinda defeats the object of having an adventure bike don't you think?

So the remaining alternative is to get an early start.

Crisis Management gets his way it would seem.

We meet at my place (holler if I haven't already PM'd the address and phone numbers) at 8.00 am and roll out at 8.30.
We will see you then or see you at Kawhia - your call.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

Waikato crew to meet at "Shell Service Station". Cnr Te Rapa Rd and Pukete Rd.
(opposite the big flash New World Shopping place), no later than 9.45am Sat.
Muzzle, if you want a bit of floor space Fri night, PM me. Deano is staying, and we might pop up to the Hospital to say G'day to Andrew Greer who is stuck there.
Mattresses and 40 odd stubbies are at the batch. Looking good.
Kawhia low tide is approx 8.50pm Sat night, 9.00am Sun morning, so maybe a morning squirt on the sand.
Any other Q's PM, or call me.

It ain't a race, (thats on sunday.......)

You will have no problem keeping up, it will be relaxed and scenic tour-ish with plenty of stops to tell lies etc.

    Hey guys,

Just to let you know the Qkkies wont be making it this time (relative PMs sent out) . A bout of viro gastro over Easter hung us up to dry. Im still crook, only doin half days @ work.

So much for all that hard work we did on Friday bring our gravel road riding up to scratch.
However those TKC's are the dogs balls!

Anyone planning on doing any weekend riding prior to the CCA?

No worries. Means less fighting at the dinner table.
Actually, Dawn has been very sensible by not turning up with a bug that could drop us all for a week.
And Jamie is off to do battle with 10 000 other trailbike riders in Waiouru. (my bro in law and son are going there, and have received an "identi kit" to use to harass said dairy farmer).

Shame we won't get to see you this weekend. I hope you are feeling better soon.

See you at the CCA. We'll be doing a 'Rosie pace' (TM) ride from Rotorua to Plimmerton on the Friday taking in various gravel roads, if you are looking for an interesting route to get there.

Good riding down there, i have done both desert storm and alpine express down few years ago... I had thought of entering on the BMW but not enough ground clearance so i have to wait till i upgrade to the dakar and i dont have the service truck with the gen set, clothes dryer crane mounted lighting and full tools so it would be like roughing it

    As for the Kawhia ride.......

Hell yeah i am still in!

Thanks qkkies crew for keeping the bugs away!

If no one in the eastern crew has any good ride to Raglan plans perhaps we meet up with the others in hammie????

    Dunno but sure gettin close!
