    * I grabbed a hand-full of brake and low sided, I'd consider not doing it again
    * High-sided? Rear tyre, might look for broken brake lines, fuel lines etc
    * Diesel, rocks/gravel, sweating road? Buy better glasses/contacts lenses.
...but, I don't know what it was which means from now on I just ride more nervous. Crashes like this not only give you time to think more about how you ride, but give you more cause to think about it eh.
Wasn't caused by tyres mate, it was the top of the hill so your supercorsers were planty warm and the best in the bizzo.

Frame flex is real unlikely, that bike has it's handling short falls, but weak chassis aint part of it.

You know better than to grab a stupid amount of front brake, unless something caused you to need it.

The bike didn't "high side", you went down on a left hand croner, and the left side of the bike has the scratches.

The road seemed to be in good nick from what others riding that day have told me.

Those things out of the equation, it becomes more mysterious, and very likely never to be known.

What we do know, is that if you decide to remount bikes, we can make it safer with better suspension, a decent setup, and some time learnin a better way to pick lines. Not saying any of this is the cause, it's just something we should maybe all be doing to ensure we are best equipped to dodge the never ending barret of bullets, thrown our way on public roads.

Hi sean, hope your rehab is still moving smoothly. Jimbo and I called into see you in ICU the day you had the opp on your leg's. Looked like you needed to have plenty of rest..... Carolyn and me will be in for visit in the not to distant future.

Mate I was heading up this side of the hill when your ambo was heading down, got to the top through the massive traffic jam only to hear from the boy's at the top a bike went down bad!!!! one of the lad's said it was an RSV with KTL stickers....... I felt sick an just wanted off the hill an off the bike.

Mate what Drew has posted is so true, it was perfect conditions for riding. Neil a guy that works with me was second on the seen and picked ya bike up an leant it against the fence. He was in an HSV senator an had pulled over to let you past a few corner's before, he said you were moving quick........

I know that of the three crashes i've had of late two have been rider error an the other diesel, can't really learn from the diesel but have spent alot of time and asked a lot of questions about the other two of myself and the way I was riding every time I jumped on the bike.

You gave us all a big scare bro... take care, be good and enjoy life

I have been warned of a part of the road where the wind funnels in a way that sends a massive concentrated gust of wind across the road a few times a year. Worth investigating?

    Moderators note...

I just PD'd a bunch of posts from here, the second time tonight, and including one of mine because it's not like I'm perfect either.

The title of the tread is "Info on Skelstar". It was started so concerned parties could remain informed as to the progress of 'one of ours' (tm) who had a rather unfortunate prang. Anything else is off topic.

Anyone wishing to discuss the psychology of the post-crash motorcyclist's mind is encouraged to do so on another thread.

    Please -

Yeah, already had a look at the helmet. Bit disconcerting the dirty big tyre mark over the top but only strengthens my feeling of 'luck'.

What is worrying is the kneeslider stuck to the inside on one side... makes me wonder how I fit my knee in there at the same time.

Might cut it open in the future when I get to go home.

Well, after nearly five weeks in hospital Sean is finally going home today, for good! He will be at his parents house, I am guessing that rehab on his legs wont start for a while, so he will be hooning around in his wheelchair a bit longer! Might see some of you guys on Saturday Night.
