hey ginny congradulations! awesome! whatever you do dont jump on the back of a bike with a full wedding dress on! I caught a Dr Phil show a while back (I know shoot me now) and a bride jumped on the back after the vows .. well dress got caught in back wheels .. turns out the couple were on there for Marriage Councelling (I must say it was kind of funny .. poor love) hey the rock n roll theme sounds premo! dont follow the sheep .. we all got brains and creativity so might as well use them! Ohhh white leather wedding dress reminds me of Billy Idol for some reason! But hey something low cut short n leather I reckon would be awesome plus others will have fun dressing up! bit of a grease/t-birds/rock n roll thingy going lol sweeet .. good luck! and have loads of fun with it! Ohh you could get some raunchy sexy wedding shots of you & new hubby strategically positioned on your bikes! let your imagination run willlllllldddddddddd!

What sort of clothes would people wear in a 50's theme?

origionally thought about a white leather race suit with a veil stuck to my helmet. Only one slight draw back. My folks don't know I ride

Ceremony is in the garden of a historical restaurant. Could go with a theme from the early 1900's. A costume would be cheaper than a wedding dress. Only found one I like so far and it is $1700!!!!!

Hi Ginny, congratulations. If you want to keep to a motorcycle theme, you could try something like Mods & Rockers. What part of the country are you getting married in? We have had quite a few weddings at our place this summer, all different but all with a tropical flavour.
I'll pm you our website if your interested.

See if you can get hold of a Rock n Roll club in your area. They would be able to give you ideas about costumes, music etc.

1950's think Grease (the movie!), with the full feminine skirts little tops and cardigans, or full-skirted dresses with fitted bodices and bobbysox and sneakers OR skyscraper heels. For the boys its anything goes, with a black theme usually, fitted straight or drainpipe jeans/leather trou and a t-shirt, sneakers or black boots/shoes. Tons of slick-wax for the hair, that sort of thing.

You gotta have the music to go with it. Spend a few bucks on a bargain Warehouse double 50's rock and roll CD to get the feel for the theme.

Its cheap and cheerful, and a lot of fun. But there are so many other options too, so just weigh up the ideas you have, and get, pick one that you love and run away with it! The period costume sounds great too - what about having your do as a medieval banquet? Do up the venue like a castle, have some idiot juggling and doing other crazy stuff in a corner somewhere with a mad jesters costume on, get a spit-roast company in to cater to the guests and get everyone to eat with their fingers! Employ some game students as wait-staff done up like serving wenches, etc filling people's glasses out of serving jugs. The traditional music for that kind of thing is pretty dire, but nobody says you can't put your own twist on that.

We did the whole black and white theme for our wedding. My bridemaids wore black and I was in white and the men were all in black, it made all the photos really good and as we got all our guests to also only wear black and white. Might work with the 50s theme too?
    Good luck with it all.

am about to start pulling my hair out I think. Too many decisions, not enough time. Can't even decide if we go traditional or all out theme.

Have managed to find out the venue was built as a hotel in 1860. It was for the timber mill workers. Would love to tie everything into the building.

Garden wedding, bridesmaid with a basket of flowers, guys in gray top hat and tails. Lots of roses and ivy and candles for later when it is dark.

one little way to cope is just to take yourself right out of the wedding preparations for a little bit. Go and pamper yourself .. get a facial .. a sauna .. a massage .. better yet go for a ride! ease your mind a little .. then you can go at it like a bat out of hell fully recharged! .. and have some bloody fun with it girl .. wayyyy to much commercialised burden has been placed on such a special day .. I know, easier to say it when your not the bride .. been the bride .. can speak on the stress lol .. thinking of ya in your time of need!

    Good advice there

And generally the Mother of the Bride has taken over anyway

Best move we made was to go tramping for a week before our wedding

To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
