Was a long ride home on the straights once past Pirongia, but that road out of Kawhia to Otorohonga was awesome fun!

Thanks again to Triboy for orginising the ride, and thanks again to Kanny for the awesome feed! Really topped off a great day.
I loved the swag on the deck, fell asleep real quick last night.

Bloody 'ell.
Pack of ferkin' headcases, you lot `Gentle adventure ride' my arse -- would've thought twice about signing up if I knew there I was going to have to ford a water crossing -- twice Does `Road Closed' mean nothing to you?!

And as for the bridge. Jesus H. Christ. I caught myself looking down halfway across that skinny little plank section. Water is a long way below, especially when there's no room to put your feet down!

Amidst the frequent moments of heart-thumping terror (in addition to those listed above was coming downhill on gravel, changing down gears whilst the road refused to catch up with the engine and the brakes did nothing except lock wheels), that was magic fun. Gorgeous scenery, the wonderful sound of a dozen singles echoing off the hills. And let's face it, banking over on a sportsbike on a perfect road at illegal speeds has nothing on blasting uphill on a skinny piece of gravel road, arse-end skipping all over the place whilst you stand on the pegs and wind it through the gears... Sprotsbikers don't know what they're missing!

Huge thanks to Triboy and Kanny (sans Bumblebee! ) for putting on a magic weekend and putting up with us all. Great to meet the rest of you too, you're all a right laugh.

Parked up at Aotea Harbour. Some of us went around the beach to Kawhia. I thought I'd try; got about 800m from the beach and the thing wasn't going anywhere. No traction and front wheel plowing a furrow from side to side! Took a while to turn around

Triboy took Deano and I on a little detour while the others battled the beach. Brave farmers here, heh.


Home at last. Who wants to clean it! Might change the oil again and clean the air filter. Sucking a lot of dust. The chain is frightening.

Tom, you rode that cafe racer places I wouldn't have and I can't recall hearing any whimpering or complaining, you can ride with me anytime...

Mind you, I probably wouldn't hear less than a scream over the DR's exhaust!

Deano, you looked good there, I enjoyed cruising along behind you on the way to Kawhia, the rat bike look suits the Zhongshen!

Apologies all for sloping off early on saturday, I would have liked to spend the evening but other obligations were screaming at me (figuratively), next time I will make sure I have the whole weekend. Good to meet, or almost meet, all of you, we seem to have a reasonable body of willing victims for future rides here, time to start planning?

Motu, thanks for the company also, that was a pleasant meander back up 22, lovely evening and the banging from a decelerating single is all you can ask for.

Thanks to all for providing the company and specially to the lanky git from the waikato for putting in the hours organising it (and to Karen also, someone must have provided the brains behind the muscle ).

We pay a lot of attention to 'Road Closed' signs. They're like a challenge! Going through 2 closed roads & exiting 3 or 4 'No Exit' roads is a good score for a weekend

Most impressed - and I was concerned that you would have problems with the early rough stuff!
I was the one with problems i.e. keeping up with you.

Very enjoyable weekend, and yet again, major thanks to Brent and Karen. Catering to the crew and providing accomdation is gettin to be a habit.
I am happy to get involved in organising one heading north but it will have to be after mid July when I get back from Oz.

I mentioned that we will be texting back our location coordinates most nights and was told that I had to get a thread running somewhere so anyone who wants can Google Earth where we are.
My good lady is happy to deal with that, probably on ADVrider.

Guys and gals, this turned out to be such an enjoyable weekend, that in the future there is sure to be more.
My brain will struggle to recall all the snippets of humour and camaraderie that it saw through Sat/Sun.
Xer dude, you and the cafe thumper certainly took out rider/bike award. A trail/adv bike must be on your wish list soon.
Rosie managed to put up with a pack of hairy, noisy boys on the rides, and not murder any of us.
Kanny-what can I say (plays a mean hand of "last card"also).

I didn't take to many pic's so I'll post some of the clearer ones.
"Slippery Creek" is the unofficial name of that second crossing from now on.
It has a habit of biting some of the experienced riders also.
