I recommended Dunlop Gpra-10 they are fantastic very sticky. A set cost about $500.
Well surprise surprise. It turned out that the young guy who gave me a quote for GPR100 missed the fact that they dont fo them in 150/70/17 but maximum in 150/60/17.
Anyhow, I eneded up getting dual compound bridgestone BT021. Suppose to be pretty good. Just had them fitted and went out and it was raining. Murphy's law. Anyhow I took it easy coz new tire + rain can be a disaster.
8k on my journey home , on the traffic lights I discover that I have no back brake at all. Good thing I was stopped and not using back brake in rain at all. back to cycletrads. Turns up the young apprentice bloke had forgotten to "pump my brake up".I would think that should be on the list somewhere ...
Anyhow mistakes happen espessially to noobs in whatever surcumbstances, so I didnt make a scene or anything. he fixed it for a minute. Thanked him, and on my way home.
Tires feel very smooth and comfy. the ride is soft and nt so bumpy. Due to the fact that it was raining I havent pushed them but it looks like there is gonna be a good weather in the next couple of days and i'll take them for a scrub in.

When I was riding that Yellow Hyosung GTR, The Shitko tyres lasted around 17,000kms lol

Toto, is there much difference in the price of Shinko's compared to the Bridgestones you have now?
Give the tyres a good 160 km before you trust them. According to some KB'ers, you can decrease this distance by going on a metal road, cleaning them with brake cleaner, or rubbing them down with emery paper.

Not sure how much the shinkos are but I'm guessing about 300 plus fitting at the bike shop coz I dont think cycletreads does them and they are the only place that does not charge for fitting.
Mt. Eden Motorcycles were gonna charge me 80 bux for fitting, regardless that i'm a regular customer and have all my servicing done there and know the guys an and they know me. different store policy.
I did shopping around at all bike shops and cycletreads are 100bux if not more always cheaper coz no charge for fitting. I hope forgetting to put brakes in working order is not a regular hing with them coz I aint keen on saving 100 or so bux if I'm gonna be of risk of slaming ito a truck 3 minutes after I leave the shop.
Cycletreads gets 7/10 in my book for now.
New Tires , What a difference.
Man i'm loving those new tires. I did 230ks on SH16 and Woodcocks rd and back. 230ks on the tires now.
AMAZING DIFERENCE. they really are sticking well. got them scrubed from edge to edge - its just so easy. On the shinko tyres I had unscrubed 1.5 cm till the day they came off (today) just coz they get so unstable at certain point. I can take corners now with extra 20ks and sometimes more. I'm absolutely delighted. Went trough a couple of serious bumbps that on the shinkos I would have been shit scared. On the BT021 it just sticks back to the road. I'm so loving them. They warm up to twice the tmp the shinkos did. Warm up wobling is also soooooo easy on them.
When the time comes I'll get super sticky tires to see what thats like , but the BT021 are just amazing.

Shinko = Low end shitty tyre made for little but cheap riding.
BT01's = Same level as GPR100 and suitable for SPORTS riding, to the point where some people in streetstock use them for their racing.
Don't go using things like brake fluid on your tyres, Get that shit on your paintwork and you will be sorry. Just take the time to scrub them in properly, it doesn't take long at all...just go easy for the first little while. AVoid hard acceleration and braking till the tyres are less slippery. (I sometimes do a little 1 sec burnout to create a grippy patch on the rear, and treat the front like I am riding on ice till I have taken a few corners.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

I wouldn't do a burnout (even if it makes sence), but a nice increasing in speed riding for the next 200km I beleave worked (what I did today). Just got home from town. Tires now on 300k - beautiful.
Anyhow, now I understand what people ment shinkos were shit, too bad I had nothing to compare them with. Probably would have saved me my slow speed bin , had I changed the tires earlier. o well, I'll enjoy them now![]()
