Things turnied to shit this morning and i couldnt make it
maybe a good thing though that i wasnt hooning (ok pootling) around a track on a day where the karma bank had forclosed my mortgage, raped my cat, and placed a kick me sticker on the back of my bike.
one of the many issues was my cellphone died getting wet in the fog (which made me miss 2 turn offs, and caused at least one oh-shit moment which is currently being dealt with with nappysan) which meant i couldnt call to let them know- my apologies mr kiwifruit.
I'm putting this thread on ignore. i really do hope everyone had a grand day, but i dont want to hear about it.
time to hit the piss (et al) and induce amnesia.....![]()

Not if you dont have to. You were looking mighty smooth out there today Jas.![]()
Thanks MotoTT for another great day.And thanks to all the riders who behaved themselves. Few minor offs but luckily no ambo needed all day.
Mr Ducati Dude was lucky he didn't take anyone else out with him tho. From where I sit I can see people getting cocky and worry about who they might take out. You all have to remember that its a TRACK DAY! Not a race day. I was Impressed with Boomer, Korn, Saul, Fruity, Matt Bleck, Idrum, Enigma, BB2, DMNTD and Steve(Bking) in the second to last session. You guys all rode well and smooth. Westie and Chrislost did a bloody good job out there too.
Oh and jrandom for finishing the day.
Some random pics.
yep mighty good day.
Was wondering what happened there. Bit of an odd place for an off.
I was busy sorting myself out (trying to figure where would be a safe place off track) at turn 5 then I turn around up and there's a dude gone down on 4.
I have to admit I pushed it too hard but I was building it up a couple of percent per lap waiting for a sign I was trying too hard. Last time I was down the front started pushing so I had some warning. Not this time. Was grippy as fuck until it was slippery as fuck.
I was really impressed with the much faster guys (most of group 2) giving me space and letting me hold my line and found not gassing it too hard on the straight meant there wasn't a queue behind me.
Nice to meet a bunch of KB kids at last
Big thanks to gix and boomer for finding me a bling as brake lever
Oh, does knee down still count if you bin? I mean I made it well past the apex....![]()
Oh so that was you who went down at the same time?? As I got my yellow out I looked and saw you go too. I have to ask tho...why didn't you pick your bike up? If it was you and Ducati Dude down on turn 5, I cant help wonder why you might leave your bikes laying there in the kitty litter, not even attempting to pick it up? See the thing is to use the adrenalin to get going again. As long as you're not broken, you should at least try to get your bike up and out of the way in case someone else target fixates and crashes into you.
Hope your not too sore and learned something from this.![]()
Good question/point... In hindsight it would have been much better to give moving it a shot at least.
At the time I really didn't want to be standing there trying to pick it up if someone did bail as it was right on the exit.
Even if I got it upright and started it was facing the wrong way to move it away from the corner. Could have driven it deep in the gravel trap I guess. Not much better though.
I wasn't really thinking properly as I'm not used to that scenario is what is comes down to.
I'm sweet as but will see how the morning goes. I couldn't honestly have asked for a better crash for me or the bike. It's why I don't ride like that on the road.
Lessons learned:
a) There's a reason why people say count to 3. Glad I was sliding slow enough when I tried to get up that I just rolled over. That survival instinct to stand up ready to fight or run is strong though eh.
b) Just because you've made it past the apex doesn't mean you won't lose the front
c) Having finished all your braking and having the throttle cracked isn't enough to overcome some other reason for the front to let go.
d) Just because you're in the zone and the bike is feeling great can mask the fact you're at 99.9% of the grip you have available
e) I probably need to hang off more
f) I've found my limit for turn 5. Time to learn how to turn left. For some reason I'm backwards to everyone else and prefer right handers.
