It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

we really should leave red rep as it is. gives us a chance to voice why we think the post was retarded, just like how green rep gives us the option to encourage quality posts.

if some insecure newbies are that worried about their e-penis that they want the rep reset they really need to have a long hard think about what is important.

the only change i approve is putting an 12 or 24 month expiry date on rep to prevent issues where we need some huge scale for members with a million points... what's up with this new colour coding?

Here's the idea - although the votes seem to be on the "no" side or the moment what if the vote was turned so people with the most to lose had more voting weight. So for example jrandom's vote is worth 33,000 and mine ws worth around 11,500. that would be truly fair now wouldn't it?

It was all my idea. I've been on KB for five years as of July '08 and have over 33,000 rep points, more than anyone else.

VBulletin stores rep totals as a single number against each user in the database. It doesn't sum rep transactions historically whenever it needs to find the total points.

Putting 'expiry dates' on points associated with each rep comment would require implementing significant additional complication in the system.

Are you volunteering to code it up?

couldn't be that hard surely? i'm not too bad with php and databases, plus got some software engineer and web designer friends

but if the rep doesn't have the dates already recorded (which it does atleast for the last 50 shown on the user control panel) it'll need resetting

Yes, yes and fuck off not me!!

In theory it could be done (cron job that totals rep once every 24 hours) but screw that. Too much like hard work and not exactly a good use of server resources.

Besides, I've got something sorted out that will please the vast majority of people (yeah right ). Won't be implementing anything until vbulletin 3.7 comes out though.

    meow!

trouble is most of you just aint smart enough to offer intelligent debate in opposition to my opinions; your feeble attempts just prompt me to laugh louder and post more debate you are too flaccid to counter with anything but childish personal attacks.

hell, i might not always be right but i'm often far more cleverly wrong than my opposition here

    one opinion each?

unlike some stereotypical males here, i'm a multi tasker and can handle a multitude of opinions at once

sadly though, many of the floozies also fall into the 'inadequate' category

no, that would just perpetuate the nonsense of absolutism

you and random aint special, you've just been here longer

Hey look, I don't have to multi quote; the management are so concerned they do it for me

good one, keep up the good work

    Just an Idea

The rep system can be a good thing in that, the bad comments left by someone you dont know must surely come from a very very uptight person. Well, thats the I see it. They must think (in thier own little world) that they are hurting you with a little red dot. Or, stroking your thigh softly with a green one?

There should be an option in your User CP added to have or not have rep received!!!

Maybe Mental Pants Wearer could attend to this??
