    Cheap E-bay leather jacket

A couple of months ago I decided to buy a leather jacket off ebay. I knew the quality would reflect the price but at US$169 I felt I couldnt go wrong. By the time it got here it cost me NZ$270 which I thought was a good price.

It finally arrived this morning (6 weeks after I paid for it). My impressions were the padding was bit on the thin side but other than that it looked pretty good.

Rode with it to Deanos this afternoon and just got home again getting slightly wet on my return journey. Then looked at my arms and all the white is coming off them.

The rest of the jacket appears to be dyed but the white is only painted so with abit of water and some flexing its falling off all over the place.

Ive just emailed the seller to see what theyll do about it so Ill let you know how I get on.

Thought Id just put this up as a caution to anyone else considering buying something similar.

If they wont stand behind their product what are my options? It looks shocking the way it is so would need that panel replaced?

There are numerous places that will do leather reconditioning and re-dying for a reasonable fee.

In the future only by reputable recognized branded gear (ixon/shift/alpinestars etc) when buying gear via ebay.

Na thats funny, unfortunate but funny, Yeah I hate people who rip others off (sell something knowing it aint the biz) but you know the story, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

Looks like the colour has been painted rather than dyed.

Can you publish the eBay seller's name so they can be avoided?

Should have bought Quasimoto. I've been through monsoon (attendees to the March Hare this year will agree with me) and the jacket's still great. Full armour too.

I bought my jacket off ebay, USD80 or something + matching gloves and shipping brought the total to around USD150 or so. It was about 2 years ago but the seller is still there selling the exact same jacket, I just looked. It's an unbranded jacket but I'm happy with the quality so far (haven't binned wearing it though), but the blue rubs off if scrubbed, not as badly as yours though.

Haven t come across any fakes /rip offs with motorcycle gear on ebay ,but i tend to stick with brand names when shopping overseas and also make sure the seller is an actual retail shop.

Their is alot of good deals on last years gear on their too,its unbelievable the prices they sell them off for .

Bin the POS and fork out for some quality quasimoto gear, you will never look back, have to replace because of silly shit like this and it WILL actually save your arse/body, which I would not expect from that.

I hope the new Quasi gear is a vast improvement over the old. The lining in my pants is shreaded and only worn a dozen times. I only paid $150 for them so I'm ok with sorting repair (helpful handy mrs). I'd be pissed though if I'd paid retail ($330 approx). I must admit, other than the lining, they are excellent!

Then why are you not talking to Quasi about it instead of here? I'm sure if there is a defect he'd sort you out quick smart!

Probably because I realized how bad it was yesterday and I want it fixed today. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not rubbishing Quasi’s gear, just merely pointing out that not all is roses.
I’m sure from what I’ve read on here that Quasi “would” stand by his gear 100%, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that this material should never have been used as a lining in the first place. I’d be really pleased if the new generation gear had addressed past issues and I’d welcome a response from Quasi (Brett) himself!
I hope that answers your question!
