I work about 10 hours in a light week, and about 60 hours in a heavy week. Last year I earned around $220k NZD.
Even though I earn fairly well, I still feel poor. Living in Melbourne does that to you.

It is apparent after reading all your posts that most don't earn stiff all as an employee - so why do it??![]()
It is what it is
Good on ya for taking a stand Martin, you're a decent chap and a hard worker so if the bosses don't appreciate that then see what else is on offer.
Currently I have no idea what I earn per hour, based on most of the posts here my salary is definately lower than average. Hours can be a killer, pretty easy to pull a 60+ hour week, worked a 12.5 hour day on Sunday with 15min morning smoko and 40 minutes for lunch, just the nature of the job I guess. Longest day I've worked so far was from 8am to 11:30pm, pretty knackering when you're back to work next day at 8 again!
In saying that, I wouldn't change it, its a pretty special job and I'd rather be doing this then something I hated for a few more dollars in the bank!
Good luck with your search bud![]()
26.5 hours per week for 39 weeks.
If I didn't pay any tax and saved every red cent I earned I still wouldn't have the 16 k to send Zac to Belgium...
Diarrhoea is hereditary - it runs in your jeans
If my nose was running money, I'd blow it all on you...
last 2 months average hours worked per day 16
pay so far--not a bloody dime. Gotta love bein self employed![]()
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
I'm not to sure what my hours worked are. Varied, on call 24hrs a day. Expected to complete an average of 40hrs per week... often more, but sometimes less.
Paywise is ok. My postion could be valued, dependant on experience, between 45 and 55k + house.
37.5 hrs per week + min 1 hour overtime per day.
Very much under $30/hr.
22 years experience, Trade Cert etc. It's not often I blow my own trumpet but I am very good at my job.
No morning or afternoon tea breaks. 30 min lunch.
No, it's not a bank.
Have you figured from what everyone is saying that you are not too bad off. Some of use are quite a lot older, with a huge amount of experience and getting around the same as you ... Personally, I always follow up on requests if I have not had a response for a while. Go to the Boss and say something like "I was wondering if you had made a decision re the discussion on such and such a date ...." you can only ask and the worst that can happen is they can say no.
