I won't bother adding fresh meat to this conversation - here's a cut and paste excerpt from an email I sent a friend yesterday, and I stand behind every word of it.

"Guys are generally idiots though - no idea who they are or what they want, stunted emotions and all that. Women tend to be the opposite, emotionally complete, and a lot more complex. Far more interesting... "

OUCH! I am sorry that your experience of men is soooo bad chick!

They aren't all emotionally stunted and not all ladies are perfect either.

Seems you have redirected their attentions from MDU to yourself...

    ...nice knowing ya

To be fair it is relative, and what I said is a generalisation, but that means it's generally true - rather than always true. Cuts both ways though - there's some emotionally stunted women out there too...!

There are a few very very good guys in here too though. They tend to stand out in threads like this - and in the "What makes a man" thread SARGE started years ago.

Someone needs to take a serious look at thiings anytime someone needs to put others down to make themselves better than them.

All good - and no worries at my end. I just know it hold a significant grain of truth as well (as with all comedy there needs to be enough to make it funny).

Good to see we got past the "shoot the messenger" state and actually have gotten into a serious debate about this very important topic. Alas, it seems to be drifting slightly off-topic and focus have shifted to the imperfection of men more than how they are superior to women.

p/t - because someone is bound to take it serious otherwise

Again, these are sweeping generalisations on behalf of both genders I must say. Being more exhibitive about your emotions doesn't make them anymore complete or real - no matter your gender. Oh, and we are all idiots btw - gender doesn't factor into that at all.

Yep, there hardly anything more manly than talking (or writing) about what is indeed manly...
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

    Agreed entirely.

And yet being unable to talk or write about the topic is childish

I have a vague feeling that I should add something noteworthy and thought-provoking to this thread, but I can't really come up with much, to be honest.

I probably shouldn't have stayed up until 2am this morning reading Harlan Ellison, but I'd forgotten how engaging his short stories were.

Er, on the topic of the comedian under discussion, he's quite typically American, isn't he? His humour has its merits, but on the whole, it's like being hit over the head with a wet brick wrapped in a whoopee cushion.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I could do better...

Still, if he's getting book sales and talk show appearances, it's working for him. Long live entrepreneurship!
