    Off-road knee braces

Is anyone out there able to offer an informed opinion on knee braces.
i have spent the last 7 months off my moto x bike due to damage to my left knee ligaments. I want to purchase a brace and dont mind spending more to get more, but i am not into paying more just for a brand name !!.

I ran Asterix braces for several years and they saved my knees more than once. very good protection and after a while you feel naked not wearing them on the bike

I did a simple low side last early year and the Osto said I would not get to go skiing !!!! I worked hard to get my knee working again and invested in a set of Asterix ($1,300) and got to do the whole ski season. I feel naked without them now on the bike. So much more confidence as every so often when I have forgoten them I put my foot down and think of the potential for pain and loss of enjoyment.

Spend the $ and you wont regreat it.

Not a motorcross rider but my old boss was a big dirt rider and broke his knee and whatever else there was in a million pieces after he gassed his bike too much over a hill crest and was in the air 90 degrees.

When he came down he wanted to save the bike so out goes both his feet to soften the impact and *crunch* goes his left knee.

He won't be riding ever again but if had he worn knee braces this wouldn't have happened! !

dont buy asterisk buy cti2 i was wearing asterisk when i broke my acl pcl and medial! The impact was big but the wire in the hinges snapped and the bracket ripped through the carbon fibre! even though it was a big hit my cti2s would have saved my leg, if your gonna shell out the dollars get the guru stuff! To prove it was the knee braces fault i got a full refund as i didnt want a replacement!!!

Also call darryl king he will explain how easy it is for acc to purchase you a set if you have already had knee injurys

Who is DK? I need ACC to help me out.

Just twisted my right knee at the weekend, I've already had a ligament op on the left. The sound of the rip was louder than the bike and now I'm walking like John Wayne.

Darryl King, he is the nz agent for cti2 and leatt. Best bet is go see a doctor tell him you want a letter recommending knee braces due to previous injurys he will send you to a specialist who you tell specifically what knee braces you need then send that letter and a quote from dk to acc and hopefully they approve it! alot of messing around but we are talking about nearly 4k! It should be easier to get acc to pay for them before you wreck your knees. Just 1 op on 1 of my knees cost them over 25k!!

check the post above then come check out my custom cti2s with my name printed in the carbon and my leatt brace all purchased by acc with no dodgy stuff at all in my case they were happy that i had gone to the effort to find braces to limit future injurys and the specialist was so impressed by my neck brace he organised that he recommended the same for a few other patients
