    Fair comment ....

One of the issues previously was that there was a regime to move the fast guys out of there but it was too difficult to enforce. It didn't seem right that someone could be consistently 5 secs faster than the next rider and stay there. Oh well, back to the drawing board I guess.

We have the full Winter Series to consider the pro's and cons of this rule as it wont have an impact until next season. I intend to discuss it further at the committee meeting this tuesday. There may be easy to police options that don't penalise those who don't have the desire, bike or speed to move into another class.

I for one don't regard changing classes as 'moving up ' ! Just having to buy another bike. My days of chasing so called championships are well gone. I'm just out there for the fun and believe clubmans should be for other than it is.
I happen to have a bike I like and want to give it a work out every now and then.
Besides, how many egos would be shattered if an old guy went round the outside !!!!!!!! Gaz.

I'm in a similar position with not getting to the track that often (I could make one round last year) and maybe three if my roster stays as it is for this season. I'm never gonna be quick with so little track time, I'm never gonna be able to contest a full championship, my bike is waaay out of date with little prospect of upgrading (not that I'd be any quicker on a K8), so Clubman's suits me down to the ground.

Personally I reckon Clubman's is for the casual racer just out for a bit of fun, or for people to dip a toe in the water in a less than super-competitive atmosphere. So what if someone is obviously quicker than everyone else, there is no championship at stake, and everyone else may just have a chance to learn something from them....well, for the time they remain in sight anyway.

Another thing I reckon could help progression is the cross entering rule. Most other classes seem able to cross enter other classes, except Clubman's. Maybe if they were allowed to cross enter say one race per meeting in an appropriate class (if laptimes acceptable) to see how they fit in, it would encourage people to move up when they found they weren't in over their head. At the moment it seems that those who most need track time to improve their skills have the least access to it.

Do they give out licences cheeper if you get them this late in the season?
No they don't discount them as far as I'm aware. Sucks aye. Been there myself when I started out.

Don't quote me on this and definitely ask some one who knows more facts than me! But...

It's my understanding that if you're getting a license near the end of the season isn't it better to do day licenses until the new season starts?
I think that if you keep the receipt from the day licenses you get $30 off the new season license?

    MNZ Concessions

Policy is a bit "fluid", but generally these are the 3 ways to save money.
    1) Family discount on percentage basis. Must be family members at a common address.
    2) Day licence receipts will get you a credit for a full licence, but only for that year(not the following)
    3) About now they give a discount for a full licence given the year is two thirds run. I think there's a news item on the site right now re this one.

I've been "working" these for years, but there have been a few inconsistencies so it pays to ask. Vicky Simm and co always do a great job

Not interested in racing myself, but certainly keen to go for a look at Taupo.
    Spectators encouraged?
What will it cost me to get in?

Ive wondered about running a series based on grade rather than bike capacity.
    Say A grade, b C D etc.
Your grade would be based strictly on your lap times
I think at places like Taupo and Manfeild it would work really well with a good balance between the need for out n out power and quicker handling.
With only 4--maybee 5 classes everyone would get good track time

clubmans A and B are run similar to what you have discribed by the Vic Winter series.
