    St John Ambulance Run 08

The Canturbury Ulysses Club again put together this run. And planty of people turned up for the cause. Nice to see so many bikes on a day that was brisk at 13degrees with cloud covering much of the sky.
A map of the route HERE

Arriving with an array of bikes and riders, familier faces etc.

A very long Q" for the sausage sizzle, A few looks at my stack of four... which were not all for me... but to be shared around my clan.

A chatter, walk around the bikes, and listen to see whom won prizes... I was handed a number of tickets from Rashika and Chic 'n' charge and for I think Chic" she had number 89N (or was it Rashik'?)with a grey heart, sadly missed on getting a pack with some dog'y wash stuff etc, but a good pack all the same. (so will get that one to ya)

Of course I had me cammy out.... Pictures at the link...

One rider happened onto the back of a fourwheel drive breaking their leg... gotta suck for sure.

All the badges sold out, so have to await this years in the post... (thats mail post and not forum post....ok)

Roll on 2009... actually retract that one.... 2008 has some time to run yet.

Sounds like you had a great time. Tim and I had fun too on the Wellington Run.

We went from Maidstone Park in Upper Hutt, over Haywards, Paremata Rd to SH 2, and down the motorway to Thorndon.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

We had a great turnout somewhere in the 60-80 bikes bracket. Big thanks to all the Auckland Ulysses for joining us, it was awesome to see and will be a big day for you all when you get home in a couple of hrs time.
Big thanks to Kaitaia St John for welcoming us with a lovely feast!
See you all next year and some of you on sunday! cheers Al.

As... the Guzzi gear box is all busted up all I could do was meet up at the asembly point, and then head home for lawn moeing and such shit.
Great turnout and aperantly a great ride mapped out ending up in a nice wee spot Cust.

Now unfortunatly there was a seriousish ish acco on the way involvong KBer's, Triumph, Harley, Honda, Kawa and a 4x4, KBers are ok and or sore but the Harley chick is well broken up but ok.
No need to panic I believe the mess of bikes and KO'd riders has been sorted... bloody shit tho but at least thoses involved got there moneys worth out of St Johns
    cheers DD

Don't mean to be nosey, but are you referring to the accident that happened out on the open road on the way to Cust, or the mysterious dinged up GSX1400 parked at the Belfast gas station? It looked familiar for some reason, thought it might be a KBer's.

Regardless, we're glad to hear that the open road outcome wasn't as bad as it looked.

Overall it was a good ride, I missed most of the action since I arrived about 30 minutes late - thanks to my 90kph CB175 :]. Also, good to see a few familiar faces, though I was too sissy to approach anyone

//EDIT: Yeah, good to see you too man, even if it was just for a few seconds before my crew rolled out on me!

Hey romeo, good to meet you, I bet you passed those Vespa's at least
    Cool looking little scoots.....

Had a good slow tootleout to Cust. xsessive didnt like the 95kph Harleys. Fark. And the Gold blings!!! Why do some of those suckers need ALL the road.
I was glad to see my little brother and his scruffy trike, bloody smoker it is, its parked behind the VW in goasties pics,
Say the blue zuki with the bent bars at the Johns rd turn off? was not one of the group, didnt look too bad, guess the riders was off to hospital in a cage or ambo.
The weather threatened to turn sour on us, as riding in from Grets I hit light rain at Smellfast, the clouds looked llike a preggy lady, ready to drop their load on us lol.
Did everyone get their free "rideforever.co.nz" key holder. tis a nice blue. might use it to hold me leather pants up. Rating must be 500kg! ( skite)
Just after the raffel draw I headed out , managed to just beat the rain before it started at Greta, just.
In all an enjoyable day, but must get the clutch fixedon xsessive, developed a tendency of staying disingauged when held on for a while at lights
Good to meet up with you all again, only if it was in passing
    Till next time

    Did I win something??

I can't honestly remember what numbers I gave you apart from they were either something like 53 to 60 there were like 7 grey hearts in my bunch of tickets.

Not overly worried, only really did it for donation. Had great ride with friends in the brisk sunshine.

yeah Ghostie, you keep the prize... I'm sure you'll put it to good use

Nice ride out, lucky the rain stayed away and it was kinda nice wandering around looking at bikes, and then sitting in the sun at the pub.

Was a bit gutted to hear about the acco tho, first time I've ever heard of a mod serious one involving more than one bike on that run. Spoken to one of the poor guys who got run up the arse of, hes ok, bikes a little bent, sad cos i think he was really in luv with his new baby. Sounds like a whole lot of well done evasive manouvres by all involved, a bit of unexpected offroading eh B? ...and luckily only one serious injury... all the best for your recovery

A nice little ride up until that point, Seeing Lemans flung to the right on impact like he was dropping into a right hand hairpin wasn't nice. How he hung onto it was amazing, great work Lemans

I ended up in the grass trying to avoid the rider and the bike, which wasn't easy as both were sliding. After just missing the rider by about 2 feet I was heading for a power pole so had to eased back the other way. Another rider ended up on the other side of the road and dropped it in the grass, but rider and bike were ok.

After the ambo came and took the injured away the 7 or 8 of us carried on to Cust. Lemans did have some damage to his bike, but he could sill ride it.

When we got to Cust most people had gone, but we did get a free sausage.

Well I guess we can't have scared you enough the first couple off times you met us cause you were brave enough to come & see us. Pity we arrived at cust just as you were leaving.

It was good to see all those familiar faces on the ride.
