    Red face Noobee alert (Sparrowhawk)

G'day, I'm Sparrowhawk, also known as Steve.

I'm new to riding, 'cept I used to ride a nifty 50 when I first moved to Auckland until I got whaked from behind by a lady in a cage, sprawled all over the road in Royal Oak, and the lady just kept on driving. Grrr

Since then, I've driven a cage, and told myself that I'd get a bike when I left auckland, but that never happened. Now my cage is dying a ungracefull death (i bought it off Donor for $200 bucks 3.5 years ago, so it's done me well), and I commute from Papakura to the Airport every day. Thought 'bugger it, time to get a bike'. So I got me an Kawasaki GPX250, and love every minute of riding it, even in the pissing rain like we've had this week.

Other stuff 'bout me, I'm married with 2 kids, a 6 year old boy, and a 2 year old princess. I'm originally from Dunedin, and I love working on engines. Car or bike, just love getting greasy, and my training is in stage lighting. So it figures, I work for a bank.

Donor told me about KB, and I've been on every day since, learnt HEAPS about bikes & riding.

Welcome Sparrow. Enjoy the site and the madness!

Papakura to the airport is a sweet commute. I take it you go through Manurewa and on to the airport motorway.

    Welcome Welcome......

Nice commute, used to travel out that way at least 4 times a day while I was living and working in Auckland.

Yup. Sure do. Only prob is, you can't get to the airport without going thru a 100k area, & I'm trying to behave while I'm on my learners and stick to 70km. But it just don't feel right going 70 while everyone else is going 100!

Ah, recognition occurs. I've met a couple of the locals, it's good to meet more. It's all who you know aye
I figure car drivers must be Apes. All they do is sit in cages all day & grunt

Haha, awesome, welcome to the site (as everyone will continue to chirrup for the next week). Great to see you're back into the bikes again.

Gday sparrowhawk and welcome to KB. Mostly good helpful guys but there are a few crazies who like to piss people off by doing the power trip put down stuff, but don't let that get to you. I've been on the sidellines for yonks but now coming out and posing a few. See you on the road sometime.

FYI - he's a couple of short corners round the road from me, so we're all a great big neighbourhood fambily!
    At the 2007 Westpac Ride:

Donor: So ya glad you're a Biker?

    Minnie: F**k yeah!

Hey mate, welcome to the site! FYI my mate works at the National Bank at the airport so I go there regularly, the GPX250 is absolutely fine on those rides! Most people cruise at 80kmph on the road to the airport anyway if you are worried, but just do 100. Also the corner next to the subway/sushi/donuts is a nice tight corner to practise your low speed cornering

Gotta get you out on some rides! I traded my bird in for something more realistic, you'll be able to say hello to your bikes big brother
