The 1098R is way faster, to all accounts. I mean, it's a whole new engine. Jeez.

If you buy an S now, you'll just lose money when you upgrade. Because you will upgrade. Because the R is undoubtedly ejaculatorily awesome.

If there was no R coming, then, sure, get the S.

There's more to track riding than superbikes, though. Instead of buying a Jap thou by default, why not set up a ProTwins or F3 650?

Fuck me then - let's all just stop posting right now then!

(Besides, I'm not the one to make a decision here - now if you had said "uninformed opinions" your post might have had it's merits... However, DMNTD chose to post a poll on it - that's the nature of polls btw, asking the uninformed for their opinion on a decision that is ultimately not theirs to make anyway.)

Unless you're positively made of money then the price difference might matter somewhat.

Do not get the 1098R, do not get the 1098R,...

Knowing you sir, if you don't do it now, you will eventually. I'm just never showing up at a track day you're on though...Green is not my colour

In this very particular instance, I am reminded of hearing Ron Jeremy, on-stage at the Erotica expo, tell an anecdote about porn industry veterans who mentally convert prices into the numbers of various scenes they'd have to do to cover them.

I suspect a 1098R would be about 30 DPs, 5 ass-to-mouths and a dozen nude interviews for the web with zoom-ins on genital piercings.

All in a day's work, eh, DMNTD?

Chuck it down the track and just buy another.

Let's see now, you wanna trackbike but you are baulking at 40 large for a 1098S 'cos you are scared/sure you are gonna crash the thing. That being the case why would you be waiting for an even more expensive 1098R? You'd never take it to the track and ride it how you'd want to.

Me? I'd rather do something and experience a fuck up than not do something and realise later that I missed out on something special. It's only money, you aren't short of a quid, so have a go man. Buy the 1098S and thrash the bejesus outta the thing, breathing easier 'cos you can tell yourself you've saved 10-15k (or whatever it is) on the 1098R.

Either that or buy this jigger, and have top quality suspension a la Ducati, and mega ponies: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-150525395.htm
