    Thunderstorms/natural disasters

    Hi

I love a good storm and seeing the effects that mother nature dishes out.

I'm not saying that i want to see ppl die in natural disasters but more the way she has a habit of humbling us and making us realise that we are only but a mere spec on this earth

i'd like to get ppls views and thoughts

Love a good thunder storm with plenty of lightening and thunder, especialy at night.
Nothing like curling up under your blankies on a dark dismal night when its realy persisting down.
Oh, and natural disasters are good for my business as well as the economy

Absolutely love them. It is just Mother Nature letting the planet know who's the boss.

Use to have access to a batch just south of the Fox river. Thunder storms and lightening were frightening. But spectacular at night.

A few years ago I spent a month around Austin Tx, That was a fantastic place. I loved it. I was there from late July to late August and the days were so friggin hot. I think there was only one or two days where the mercury was under 100 in the daytime.
Anyway I was staying in an area called Four Points just out of Cedar Park. This place looks over Lake Travis and then over towards Austin City. One evening I was there there was a fantastic storm, or more to the point storms. There were about four storms that evening all with huge thunder clouds towering into the sky. They were all going off and slowly merged with each other to become the biggest baddest meanest thunder storm I had ever seen. Sheet lightning was flying all over the sky with fork lightning heading to Terra Firma.
I tell ya, normally thunder storms dont frighten me but this meanarsed one scared the fecal matter outta me...
...Another day was driving to the Home Depot in Cedar Park when it really started bucketing down. I was stopped at a set of lights and there was a flash to my left. A Thunderbolt had ripped into an oak tree about 50 yards away. Ya could smell the electricity and feel it tingling about. My hairs were all on end and there was a weird electrical smell. I have never been so close to one....

Anyway our storms in NZ are lame compared to some areas....

There is no such thing as a "natural disaster" unless it involves people. Isn't that arrogant of us?
