Aaaahh...hello? ever heard of Manapouri Power station???

I went and had a look at this amazing feat of engineering, they take ya down a long tunnel in a bus, underground, to a big cavernous room where the generators live. Almost all the output electricity is sent straight to Tiwai Point Aluminium Smelter. Very impressive piece of infrastructure kit.
As for cars, yep theres a few down there, but I rode the Catlins on a Saturday afternoon and there was bugger-all cars on the road

Anyone interested in the science of the electric universe we all live in, checkout Prof. James McCanney. He is an Astronomy major and a brilliant man in my opinion. Before you all laugh and take the piss, did ya know that Tesla was the inventor of the Alternating Current? Yes folks, we have AC electricity thanks to Tesla.
