Was a great ride but would not have suited you or Al as there wheren't any smoke breaks. Only downside of the ride was when we stopped for coffee. All the ladies could talk about was some guy called Lance.

I'd be keen on a ride after midday. Maybe someone should post up a meeting point and time.

pity I missed you today. Thanks for dropping in the stickers. they look mint. still deciding where to put them on the bike. No one was posting up anything so thought I might go see if I can remember how to play golf. Turns out I cant.
In the very near future we are going to have to scout the chopper ride. Maybe next weekend.

Quick blat to the bay & back today to see if the bike still worked. Bit damp in places especailly coming back. Saw heaps of bikes coming back from the cold duck: waved to Dogs and this shiny new Bandit amongst others. No Harley riders waved...

looked at a 2005 blackbird today

not as big/bulky as i thought, but a bit of weight there, i doubt it wouold matter once underway, absolutely mint condition, magnificent two-tone blue model, sounds spectacular (4 into 2 arrow cans), very similar position to the RF, plent of comfy space for mrs yod

but it pissed down so i didnt test ride it - will do that later this week.

Ended up a little late after a bit of rain between Feilding and Ashurst. No one round so planned to hit McD's in Palmy then the track and back to McD's a few times.
Ran into Gary on the way through Palmy so we rode together to McD's, I ate, he watched. Was demonstrating the armies rapid refuling technique to him but then ever got to taste the damn burgers!
Headed to the track and passed 2 Triumph Daytonas behind massey trying to sneak home. Soon, they were convinced to join us and we all headed to the track.

Semi wet road on the way up and I ended up chattering the rear into the 25k switchback up the track. Thought nothing of it at the time but we discovered at the first stop that I had taken the last of the rears rubber off in a couple of patches and was exposing belts! Only 70kms earlier I had tread there... not much but some, atleast a hint of tread anyway.
Should have eased off on the rear but.... young and dumb... I didn't.
We ended up at Paihiatua, then out the back of someplace that ended at a school. Awesome road.

Scared the crap out of all of us as we all found some gravel on some tight drop away turns. After Al's compulsory smoke stop at the school we had to nail it to reel in Sarah and her Blue blooded Truimph, who had gone on ahead which we forgot about, before she reached Eketahuna... we failed.
Cafe stop by a fire with a couple of the customers trying to guess which was Sarahs bike. They did choose the 400, they definitely did't consider the 955... the chose the obvious choice... the SV

Headed back to balance road then the track. Road had a wet surface for the last couple of K's before the climb proper and after blasting past Al and Gary the rear tyre finally bit back. Seems the wet plus the white lines plus the 2 shiny strips of metal that passed as my GPRA10's centre section didnt get on so well. After getting the rear to follow the front again and not try to overtake it I eased off, waved the real riders through, and followed them over the hill.

Coming down wasn't so bad and, after riding the Jadedblade more like my MX bikes, relying on the front end and letting the back do what ever it wanted, I got down the hill with a smile still. Was hard to push aside the images of Pro riders like MotoGP's Jorge "X-Fuera" Lorenzo highsiding at Shanghai last weekend though...

At the bottom of the track we all promised to do it again and soon, and parted ways for home. Al following a miss firing 955, gary commenting how the day started as a distaster with no one showing and ended pretty well, and me babying the bike into the rain and home, with a pitstop at Coyboyz for the loo.

hmm dunno about shiny at that point ..had to negotiate several inches of mud leaving the rally site .. that was an interesting experience (bit like freakin gravel) we will stay away from that as much as possible in the future

blackbirds are great bikes and about as close as you will get to a "modern day RF"

Yeah, posted up a bit late. nothing was a go before 10 this morning so decided to go swing a golf club around for a bit instead. Sounds like a good day out though. Another one missed.

Sorry I could'nt wait, after posting that it was a mint day the weather packed it in pretty quick so I legged it, origonally going to head to Patangata but in Dannevirke I briefly talked to u4ea who informed me that most everyone had left from up there so I duely headed toward Palmy, got as far as Meanies and while there the weather started to look pretty crook shot into town had lunch and pootled home to sit down and watch the V8's.
