Looking at metvuw it's gonna be a mint weekend.
Ideal for test rides.....rides to Opnake.....anywhere really.

Speaking of Opunake, what's the deal Al?
How long do ya reckon it' will take to have done what you want to your bike?
I'm assuming this would be tomorrow and when did you want to get underway?

If no ones riding on here this weekend, I may have to go on the ride to Wellington tomorrow with the MV Augusta/Highly modded R1 boys club here at work, and somehow I think I'm going to get left a long LOOOONNNNGGGG way behind them, so... do we have a plan yet?
Either option 1, my Piahiatua suggestion,
Option 2, Al's ride to where ever Opinake is or,
Option 3, whatever someone else comes up with.

Did I mention elbows up.

The leg off is to weight the outside peg to push the rear into the ground, if you left it on the peg you'd end up pushing the rear further sideways in a slide and wash it out.

You sit forward to weight the front end to help it stick and to unload the rear to help it swing out.

Elbows up to give you greater control over the steering, especially with the greater fork travel you now have. Look at any MX or Motard rider in a photo and see his body position.
    Elbows up,
    Head over the bar pad,
    Butt forward.

So kinda the opposite to "typical" roadbike riding really isnt it ...
Hi Guys, just putting in my ten cents worth...
I completely agree with sly, if one is racing a motard bike on a proper motard track. I have the lap record for a motard bike around the usual manfield circuit, I used pure road race style to do that. If I stuck my foot out even once, I could kiss that fast lap good bye. The foot out style works great for slowish right angle corners, (hence dedicated motard tracks being festooned with them) even then I find I can brake later and stuff it up the inside of those using that style. If they use that style on sweepers, I just ride around the outside of them with my knee on the deck.

Riding motards on the road, I'd pretty much just ride it like a road bike, unless I'm going for the look, this look

I was at the grass roots period in the nz motard scene and won the 2003 nth island championship. I remember reading Jeff Wards take on motarding (veteren us supercross champ, and also motard champ) 'You know when you were a teenager and you were doing a runner from the cops, well the buzz is just like that!' And he is right, when you ride one, it feels compulsory to do wheelies and stoppies and the like, you just cannot help it!

OI! you can 'ditch' that suzuki riders attitude Embrace the righteous green brand, even an old clunker kwaka will easily brush off any misguided manawatu group riders other marques 'advances'.

I'm picking those MV guys will be slow anyway, they would not want to risk creasing their Italian designer panties by hanging off their bikes.

Where is their ride and what time is it leaving?

yes sarge, the planets have aligned and the moon is indeed blue (and the wife is away for the weekend) which means I will indeed be going for a ride 'somewhere', though this Opanake ride sounds a little out of my range.... I'm thinking Saturday at this stage, it would break my heart to see it fine and then crap on Sunday if the weather dudes get it wrong....

what do you know. Best weekend for riding weather wise in ages and I went and done in my wheel bearings. PT has got some coming next week - just in time for the rain again.
