What annoys me about videos like this is that they imply that all fur is harvested in these ways.

This is simply not true. Of course some animals will suffer terribly at the hands of numbskulls, but most animals are killed quickly and humanely.

I have no respect for PETA. They are out of step with reality.

Could only get half way. Poor Coyote's

No matter what culture you come from, you can't possibly think it's fine to leave a bone exposed on an animal

I do enjoy the occasional leg of lamb...
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Here's an interesting website from a researcher into humane slaughter.

Better, I think, to advocate and propagate scientifically humane animal handling methods than to try and turn everyone into vegans with PETA-style shock tactics.

cough cough BULLSHIT cough...... how did you come by this knowledge then? Work for the fur trade do ya? Most animals used for fur are NOT killed quickly and humanly. Sounds like you need to get in touch with reality before you post inaccurate rubbish like that.

My aunt is a buyer for a major UK based fashion retailer.

The UK is particularly concerned with animal welfare, and the farmers who supply her manufacturing partners with fur are all accredited and regularly inspected.

As I said the treatment of those animals is disgusting but there are huge differences between their way of life (the people) and ours. If you are not taught any different and don't know any different how can you be berated for it?

Luckily in NZ we have minimum standards for the treatment of stock from farming to slaughter. The treatment of slaughterhouse animals here in nz is better than in a lot off countries and there is still room for improvement. Some off the humane treatment stems from wanting to keep the meat tender. ie:The higher the stress levels (especially in pigs) the tougher the meat.

The minimum standards are low but in a lot off cases farmers do treat their stock better than the govt. standards but there are some idiots out there & also 2 animals in particular where their treatment is way behind the ball for even world standards. Pigs & chickens. pigeries & battery hens. Not all are farmed as intensive as the min standards but it is still acceptance as the norm by many.
