Talking Mbazza's short ride to the Brass Monkey with photos.

I missed the get go from Balclutha on Saturday morning and didn't see another bike until over an hour later near Fruitlands.
The Brass Monkey '08' was warmish and wet, it rained lightly all night. Met up with Paturoa, XF650 and Timg among others. Their stories will be worth reading when they get home. Until then please have a look at my photos. Cheers.

Mrs O and I went to the Brass for a day ride looked everywhere for the KB banner and Paturoa but to no avail.

Met up with lots of other KB'rs, had a yarn and left at 3pm headed home over Dansy Pass, had a really enjoyable but uneventful ride, got home at 5pm, just on dark and raining.

Shit I love riding my bike at this time of year, the weather is changing all the time and temps are nice and cool too.

Nice lot of pics there Bazza looks like we must have just missed most of you guys, Timg xf650 and Rogson called in on their way home over Black Forest.

Looking forward to reading the posts of the returning riders. Cheers John.

Cheers O.R. I heard that you were on the paddock. Was that your blue Tiger two helmets parked under thye sign at the entrance? Possibly not as it was still there at about 5.00pm.
XF650, Timg & Rogerson got to your place over trhe Omarama Saddle then?
    Cheers.

We were parked over the road in the "car" park at the Brass and our helmets were in the top box.

The boys came home via Dansey Pass and up the valley due to it raining over night and with snow melt the river crossings might have been up a bit.

Probably a good call in my opinion, it's too easy to get things wrong down here at this time of year, it's not like Omarama saddle is that exciting anyway!

The weather was pretty mild over all but we enjoyed our ride over to Wanaka on Friday afternoon stayed with our son and family, watched the little guy play (tackle) rugby on Saturday morning then rode over to Alex for lunch and out to the Brass then back home via Dansey and back up the Waitaki Valley.

The colours and lighting at that time of the day going North over the Dansey is fantastic, I only wish I knew how to capture it with my camera, my pics never do it justice though! Cheers John.

Thanks for the compliment. Yep, it might be all about the bikes but you gotta be there! Cheers.

We got there about 2:30 so must have just missed you. The pass must have been fun 2 up on the tiger?

Probably passed each other at the entrance to the rally site. (was quite busy then)

We left at about 3pm and met heaps of riders that we knew coming in as we were walking out.

We travel through the pass quite frequently, it was a doddle this year, no snow or ice! The road was in very good condition too.

The Tiger is a great bike especially two up, Mrs O really likes it. ( Very important factor ) Cheers John.

Sorry about that! I was actually trying to get a good shot of your tent. See you next year and I'll bring a smaller camera so that your bum won't show. Cheers.
