As scorry just pointed out, apparently the organisers are having dramas with *gasp* resource consent. What a fucken surprise.

What they wanna do is start a nationwide petition, so the council get an idea of the dollars such an annual event will bring to Dunedin.

    Hi.
Keen to know who you were talking with? As a person reasonably involved with the project the current status is, No permit applied for, No circuit approval from MNZ, No resource consent (that I am aware of).

Resourse consents, traffic management plans, stms road closures, mnz permits, council permits, police liquor bans, the list go's on. Red tape after Red tape. I know exactly where ya coming from. A street race in Dunedin would be awesome. It would give us 4 in the south island. It was rumoured years ago that Nelson, Greymouth and what was then called the Festival street race were keen to become part of a series. Just pub talk i imagine, but as a Committee member of the Greymouth street race id love to see a bit of cooperation between the south island event committees. All the best from me, just keep well clear of labour weekend!!!

    cheers, steve

Jeepers, 2 months? how is that possible? Im all for another south island street meet but knowing whats involved i cant see how they can pull it off - its not the kind of thing that happens overnight. Unless its out in the middle of nowhere on private land? Do you have anymore details on the location, classes etc?
Anyway, id be keen to race it. best of luck to em, hope they pull it off.

shouldn't be too hard. its the same course that they run the classic car street race round. ive heard alot of people say its looking like a go-er (including people involved. shock and awe). will be a fun wee course too and a bit different to the other street races which should be cool.
