Grow up - get off your high horse, get dispensation and get insured properly. Or if you cannot get dispensation - tough shit - ride within the terms of your licence.

Im sick of people that think that they are such riding gods that the law shoudnt apply to them.

DB's comment was constructive - its just thet you were to stupid to see it.
and your a fucking moron, Did you read what you just wrote? . I was looking to get insurance not get out of it. And If I was to hit someone I would pay out insurance or not.

and to ride a 600 you have to consider yourself a riding god? Guess they better print GOD and not David When I get my full lisence huh?.

Dave at Kiwibike is really constructive and is a biker too.... he will let you know what you can insure and what you cant... how long until you get your full? i'd say you can insure it for fire and theft, then change it when you get the right licence.
Thanks have talked to kiwibiker and its now all sorted!

Work mate bought a '96 ZX6R - 45000kms, near mint condition for $4600. The thing rides beautifully.

That's where I came to the conclusion that you believe your riding skills are good enough that you shouldn't have to worry about riding within the legal constraints of your licence.

Yes - you said you were looking for insurance - but its obvious that you are not looking to RIDE the bike insured.

You say that if you hit anyone you would pay - Nice theory until you hit a 100k BMW.

Anyway - glad to see that you got covered by Kiwibiker - so what did you end up with? Will you be riding insured?

To clarify - I'm about as black as an albinos inner thigh.

Why would I want your address:

1 - you live in Wellington FFS
2 - Its an Internet post - veiled threats of violence as you popped in my rep are ridiculous - Seriously why would I even give a flying fuck? Its not that I was worried about it - I was laughing at you

Anyway - to get back on track with the thread:
What insurance did you get and will they cover you to ride the 600 on the road?

Last time I checked, theres no law forcing you to have insurance. I believe if you ride without it, you should acknowledge and accept the risks/consequences (like if you crash into a nice beemer, turn around, lower your pants and get some lube. Or prove them at fault, like I did).
I have been in a position where the pro's out-weighed the con's in the instance of not having insurance.

    Call me the insurance cowboy...

Indeed - there is no law - and of course its rider beware. But lets be honest - how many of us can take the hit of (say) 30k (excluding the cost of fixing your own bike) should we actually be the at fault party?

To me its just common sense.

The only Pro of not having insurance (that I can guess) is not paying the premimums - thats not a pro's / cons argument but more a risk / impact.

To me the risk is simply not worth saving iro $800 per year. But each to their own.

Well if where asking honest questions, who here can avoid hitting the Beemer while concentrating, being careful, etc? Everyone?

If your trying to avoid the 30k hit your going to be very careful and not hit the beemer.

This is a good way to learn how not to make mistakes.

And if its not your mistake then you shouldnt have anything to worry about.

"But to each their own", yep, well heres our own.

    Katman - is that you???

Dargor - The problem is that none of us are infallible. People, regardless of all good intentions do have accidents.

Falling off and dying is also a good motivation not to have an accident - yet (sadly) Ive lost count of how many KB'ers here have lost their lives already this year?

Again - it doesnt answer the question about what happens IF you unfortuantely do have an accident (and in the wrong etc).

Personally I'm for insurance being made compulsory. Primarily because the majority of people who do have the unfortunate accidents and that are "at cause" without insurance often fail to have the balls or the means to stand up and pay.
