    Question txt-a-park query

Hey, does anyone know (or wish to hazard a guess - other than 'blatant revenue-gathering') why txt-a-park rates on Thorndon Quay (could be everywhere, but this is the only place I've ever used it) are higher than if you pay by cash?

Obviously, it would be cheaper for me to park if I were riding the hubby's bike, but with 5 month old bubs on board and the preggy weight prohibiting me from getting back in my bike gear (yeah, I ate all the pies....), it's not an option. So, yes, I am asking the question as a caged one!

The hourly rate for parking is $3. But the minimum charge for paying via text is $4 - and then on top of that there's a 50c fee for the privilege.

The 50c fee I can accept. It's the convenience factor, even though texters are doing the council a favour by ensuring there's less coinage in the meters to collect, and to be stolen.

But having to pay extra for parking simply because they only offer you a $4 or an $8 option really gets my goat

Any ideas? Or does anyone in the know know the reason why? I have fired off an email to them to query it, but I'm not holding my breath for a (sensible) response.

Give Richard Maclean at Wellington City Council a ring. I'm sure he's got this one off pat.

You should blame your husband/partner he knocked you up
Its actualy his fault for making you drive in the car and having to pay

Done. He's going to hate you for giving me his name! LOL.

Poor guy had no idea what I'm talking about - but then I have no idea who he is, so we both have no idea who or what we're dealing with Bit like the blind leading the blind!

Anyhow, email now sent to him and I await a reply once he's looked into it. I will remain cautiously optimistic re getting any sort of reply.

    Pregnant?? Who? When? Me????

Nooooooooo, not again, please god no!

What he's dealing with is a tired, hormonal, first-time mum who has not yet gone back to work and is taking her frustrations at only having a 5 month old baby to talk to all day long out on the world...that's WAAAAAY worse than a pregnant woman (although I WAS a total biartch for the first 6 months of pregnancy as well, LOL).

Ill let you in on a secret, change the last digit of the code that the meter says to text in. So replace 4 or 8 with whatever amount you want to pay 2,3,5,6,7 etc. Obviously there is still the 50c transaction fee also.

You definately ain't doin things right if you got time in your day to talk.

While hubby is at the grindstone, you could:

do the dishes, wash, dry and put 'em away
    dust the house
    feed bubs
    vaccum the floors
    scrub the ceilings
    clean the toilet
    change bub's nappy
    scrub the shower
    wash the basin
    tidy up bubs toys
    make the bed
    put bub's to bed
    wash hubby's socks
    mow the lawns
    wash the car
    wake an feed bub's again
    vaccum the car
    dust the car

maybe make a coffee if you have time

    cook hubby's dinner

    Plenty to do
    It is what it is

do the dishes, wash, dry and put 'em away - nah, we use throw away plates, it's easier, LOL
dust the house - did that last month
feed bubs - but if I do that he'll grow out of his clothes, keep him small I say!
vaccum the floors - why? they'll only get mucky again
    scrub the ceilings - ????
clean the toilet - as per the floors...
change bub's nappy - saves the environment to change it as few times as possible, and they ARE very absorbent these days
scrub the shower - why? doesn't having a shower keep it clean?
wash the basin - as per the shower....
tidy up bubs toys - toys?? life's not a fun ride you know - the sooner he finds this out, the better
make the bed - will just get messed up again so no point
put bub's to bed - he sleeps where he is
wash hubby's socks - did that last week
mow the lawns - too wet for mowing and not allowed in the garage cos is the man cave
wash the car - the rain does that
wake an feed bub's again - you wake him from a sleep if you feel brave enough!!
vaccum the car - but i thought the rain washing it was enough??
dust the car - as above
    LOL, only teasing!
