bloody hell! haha, i got my BHS, and got a flawless mark too, if u must know (not that i'm boasting or anything). i'm still not stupid enough to try the ride back on my own. (not pansy jaffa, just not stupid). so, Andrew, seeing as i've never biked long distance, and never used a trailer, i'm going with cheapest means there and back... we all bike down!!(plus, ill really be getting into the biiking like that! haha).

26th good for most then? i'm sticking to that date.

well frosty offered a van, my dad's got a double cab ute plus trailer for us to road trip down in (i can back trailers but it's a pain in the ass with the ute) - and both will cost more than having a ride down that way

plus i wanna go for a ride

    to the bike-mobiles!

FZR - needs to be absolutely thrashed to get anywhere (11k+ constantly, plus they're whiney little bikes imo), and being a '87 it's older even than most IL4 250s out there.

GSX - well Andrew has enough stories about them already, plus the non-stock paintjob raises crash questions.

    Bandit - well they rock.

FXR'd be a nice newbie bike. Ask Andrew - he owned one or two.

FZR - need to rev just like any other inline four but ask kyle about why you don't see many on the road - and it's been dropped at speed atleast once

    GPX - looks good

GSX across - been dropped, same as a gsxr but tank and boot swapped around - i strongly recommend not buying it

bandit - yeah, looks nice, has had alot of use the last 6 months so either taken care of or in need of work....

gsx across - really? can't we stick to auckland?

FZR - nice lpooking bike, but a snapped chain?! somebody likely just rode the thing till it's rooted and is now trying to get rid of it - or didn't know any better

GSXR - save the hassle, don't bother... and i personally don't buy from people who can't hold a camera still when taking a photo of what may be completely fucked fairings and/or only show one side of the bike

    GSX - looks good!

FXR - nice! un-crashed it would seem so that's a bonus! they are awesome learner bikes but they aren't exactly coro-loop material

all in all, steer clear of the old GSXR models, and i don't entirely trust the FZR

(note i'm being pretty cynical - many "shit" bikes will be fine, but many wont)

    why not buy a honda?
    reliable v twins
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-159331789.htm
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-155853456.htm
extra-reliable single , and brand new (test/get one from WWH and try for the SMC discount)
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-158144659.htm
the honda version of the FXR, and being a brand new fuel injected handa single cylinder, there's nothing to possibly go wrong!

(my thinking is the olds might approve to some funding if it's a brand new machine - remember they don't depreciate like cars do)

since sister's now paying for repair cost after a little accident with some boy racer, my funding has been seriously dropped (come down to 3.5 (max). these are great bikes, but no longer within range. )
the VTR('89) model, squiggles said it was best to steer clear of, for a while. apparently they've been known to have quite a lot of problems.. so, though it's got some appeal, i'll steer clear...plus, i'm really really liking that gpx (ya, may not be the sexiest, but it's a 250, and i like it)
