quiet alot of people have simlar names, i know i have mixed a few nicks up in past.

But people don't have rights for no one to have same nick as them, espially if its there both there names.

Do a search for Jim, and see how many simlar nicks there are

Yeah - but they all at least have some different characters - these are identical except for a space.

    He could be "NotQuiteSoBigDave"

Do login's have a length of life? i.e. if the login hasn't been used for 6 months or a year or something does it get culled so the nick can be used by someone else? Imean if there is absolutely no activity on a login that has no posts? Like this one?

yeah maybe BigDave has been using that nick for 10 years, and so has Big Dave

So just cause Big Dave, started on kb first, does that mean BigDave shouldn't use the nick he been using for just as long. because one found kb before the other.

Yes might confuse some people, avatars help make them different, but both have rights to use the name.

other wise we are censoring people rights on the site, which people always say we are doing.

its like down local pub two people called Bob, does the bob that came in the bar second, be told he has to change his name. since he wasn't there first?

No do not have a length of time, there for ever, i am lead to believe

But if there is a username you are wanting and someone has taken it, and has not loged in for long time, i am sure can figure something out.
