52% of minor injuries were the fault of the rider.

60% of serious injuries were the fault of the rider.

75% of fatals were the fault of the rider.

The only statistics to ever come out that 80% of injuries was the fault of other road users, was when dealing with a small number of specific accidents in Auckland in one particular study.

Of course BRONZ picks up on this and always refers to "80% of ACC claims made by motorcylists were due to a car drivers negligence"... because in their political propaganda campaign, they want sympathy from the general car driving public. They don't want them to realise that motorcyclists are killing/injuring themselves through their own stupidity. BRONZ is about improving motorcycling's image and political rights. Bad press is the last thing they want.

Unfortunately motorcyclists buy into this crap as well and continue to blame everybody else instead of growing a brain themselves... and the carnage continues.

41% - not rider responsible
7% - partial
52% - rider fault

the bar graph, only list what % of rider at fault crashes result in deaths/injurys

So how much does that make a motorcycle rego cost now???

Riding a bike these days is certainly not cheaper than driver a car, for instance:

my bike $77 mth insurance my car $40 mth insurance
bike reg $210? car reg $185?

is cheaper to run my commodore for a year than ride the bike everyday, but fuck it, i love bikes and can't give them up.

Shouldn't the powers that be actually be making it easier for bikers and try to lure people away from cars to try and free up the traffic jam bullshit that happens in Auckland (the one person per car crap that goes on). I can't figure out how these people think

I reckon you are onto something there mate, If everyone didnt pay rego or get a wof it would make them sit up and take notice....if only a few have the balls to forego the reg and wof, they may slip under the radar for quite a while, then if they get fined its around the same outlay as reg and wof.

Dipshit, I'm not disagreeing with anything you're writing. The way a lot of motorcyclists ride is just plain stupid and selfish. What I take issue with is the fact that ACC is supposed to be "blameless" and that's why peeps who climb mountains in T-shirts or horse riders who don't wear helmets get cover. We shouldn't have to pay these rates because we happen to ride motorcycles. Off road riders, quad bikers and as a few folk have said, rugby players don't pay so why should we? If ACC on vehicles were based on perceived risk then truck drivers (much larger mileage) and young male drivers should have higher rates.

The fact of the matter is that the majority of motorcyclists have at least car and therefore already pay ACC. Many motorcyclists also have multiple motorcycles. To argue that it's fair that they pay ACC $200(ish) a year for a motorcycle that may go out just a handful of times a year is ridiculous.
