    Ducatiracing.co.nz Vic rnd 2...Drew

Ok then, Got to the track nice and early Friday morning for the test day.

First session was OK, warming up and gettin a feel for things. Wasn't happy with my front brakes, they wee still not playing the game I wanted, gave them a quick bleed and headed out for the second session, couple laps in and my brakes were still poissing me off, never the same twice. Coming into splash I went for the brakes but had my hand on the bar wrong for the required amount of lever travel, tipped in thinkin I'd set some kind of mid corner speed record for there if I made it round...I didn't.

Rest of the day I spent trying to fix the bike, and watching my gorgeous girl do her thing on the track.

Race day, this wasn't shaping up too good, as we had scored another master cylinder for the bike, but needed some other bits to make it work. By some miracle we got it going, and off I went for qualifying F2. Went ok, didn't get any clear laps, and managed sixth.

F1 qualify, went past Jimmy on the middle straight, and spent the next two laps wondering why he hadn't come back by me yet. 9th on th grid.

F2 race 1. Got my best ever launch on the Ducati, was well up the pack out of coke, came at splash with intentions of goin around the outside of Sloan, turns out the brakes are working a little too good now, I didn't let them go soon enough and down I went again. THIS SHIT IS GETTIN FUCKIN OLD!

Our amazing pit crew, ince again got the bike goin in record time, (it aint like thay lack friggin practice though), so off I went for F1 race.

Another half decent launch, (I love startin off the lights man), and it's go time. Had a fairly lonely race for most of it, but little did I know Tony was lurking behind me waiting to pounce, he got by me in the last lap, into Higgins, so I went the whole hog round the long way in the sweaper. Things were goin great but I didn't want to cut Tony off. I stayed a bit wide and once I got back on the gas, there was no way I was stayin on the track. I also wasn't about to back off! Over the ripple strip, over the second ripple strip, and in the dirt, with jandal still hard up it. Managed to distract Tony long enough to get on course and peg him to the line. MINT!

F2 race 2. Twelve laps this time, so I sit in waiting behind an R6. About half distance I pull finger a bit and get by him. Rode a lonely ride the rest of the race.

F1 race 2. Another twelve laps didn't sound too appealing at this point, but WTF. Off we go, and come turn two, I realise I've got a problem... I'm FUCKIN BLIND! My clear visor was not the right choice. So it was slow laps and pants shitting moments twelve times round finding myself in some very dangerous spots of the track. Dropped a couple places.

Thanks again to my awesome girl for her encouraging words, and draggin me back from the corner when I slinked off to mope.

Pommy Dave, thanks heaps for not giving up on getting the bike ready time and again.

Rob and Cherry Tayloor, you guys are absolute stars to put up with me and my bullshit.

El presidente of/and Anglo American motorcycle club, and lovely Ruth, thanks heaps for making the trip, was an awesome surprise to see you there. And and ever needed pair of hands for the repairs.

Biketranz, Silverdale landscape services, and Total finance, this would not be possible without you.

KTL motorcycles, wish you could have been here Kerry. Hope the holiday is goin well, watch out over there though buddy. Girls that look like girls, are not always.
