late afternoon on Sunday. The winds are likely to reach severe gale
between 3am and about 5pm Sunday with gusts to 130 km/h especially
about exposed hill tops.

According to all the weather gurus, it's just getting started.

Here at Whitby we just had the strongest wind for the year with a gust of 79.8kmh. Met serrvice is predicting 100mm of rain today, we've already had 40.0mm (3.0mm in the last hour). Oh and did I mention the temp? It's 7.9deg and dropping 0.6km/h

We're bailing, but we're having a huge breakky-for-seven of pancakes first ... yummm

(oh yeah, in front of the heaters too)
