    Ivans VMCC ROund 3

    Hey all.

After deciding at work if it pissedcdown I was gonna give up for the day I went to track any who to see whatthe weather would do,
Got in and had the Ohlins guy sorry cant member your name Roberts other worker help me set the sag on my Ohlins shock had brand new COnti Sport attacks and went and asked Jay and Mishy what they thought of runnign them in the wet conditions.

After a big pour down before our qualifying I counted and saw 31 entrys for superlite pro twins so thought maybe I could miss qualifying and go out in the races as that would give me time to change my tires to full wet Conti Race Attack wets.

After talking to Mel he said I would need to go out there and quailfy for the 115% cut off I was happy with that and was told just take it easy and do one good lap then come in.

Qualifying after waiting for the final call I went down to the grid to keep as much heat in my tires as possible.
onto the track and instantly noticed lack of grip but also noticed the Ohlins gave the bike a whole new feeling to it almost like it was a differnt bike everytrhing felt so much more planted especially under braking.
After circulating around I came in with a time of 1:45 and qualed 23 which was 2nd to last.

Straight into pits and wipped Wheels and tires off and changed to wets.

But Conti do not make a wet tire in 160 size yet so I was running the 180 rear which was actually of Jays ZX6R 2 laps old and pretty much still new.

    Superlite Pro Twin Race 1.

Onto the track I go and end up lining up last as I couldnt see were exactly I was ment to be on the grid o Well doesnt bother me.
Lights all go up Rev her right up Lightsdrop Slip the clutch off the line and it was like everyone else was sitting still or wheelspinning up as I passed a shit load of bikes of the line into turn 1 on the wrong line on the entrance made me tighten up and make the corner feel alot slower than it is got swamped by a few bikes trying to pass around the outside at turn 2 as the Contis gave me alot of confidence but wasnt keen on tucking the front under heavy braking so back off knowing I could power pass most bikes on the straights or out brake them. Got a few bikes and ended up losing my track placing then finally caught AJ Chappel he was the hardest person for me to getbyas he was really working that ZXR on the corenrs and brakes, Luckily for me Glen Williams thought it was dry I think and came screaming past like im sitting still he got past AJ and I dont knwo if it slowed AJ's Rythem or not but I got passed him at the same time and Continued trying to chase Glen to get some good laps in.
He actually pulled my pace along as my best lap was the lap were he lapped me.
I could slowly see I was making ground on CLive but knew I couldnt touch him.
Ended up crossing the line 14th overall so was fairly stoked with my achievement.

    Race 2:

After waiting what seemed like forever we hit the trakc at around 3:45
ish... I was really amped for this race having heaps of confidence in my tires and my bike and my own riding.
I line up once again get a cracker launch something I found is my strong point in racing is starts,
Chasing down alot of bieks but then I have vision problems with my visor fogging I lose all speed I had as I couldnt see andhad to keep flipping my visor up ended up getting 2nd to last in the race and circulated around only reason I stayed out on trac was I knew any points I gained were valuble to me in the series as Sam wasnt racing it opened the door big time to me.

    Well thanks all

Good stuff Ivan - Your finishing all the races & on a steep learn curve, the pace will come for sure. Dont hesitate to ask if you get stuck with anything on the SV, Cheers

Ivan, first or last, the main thing is that you're having fun mate. Watching that thing sliding about certainly looked fun!

    Cheers Glen,

Always sounds good coming from guys like you.

It is a huge learning curve so much more differnt than a 125 but as I have stated in someone elses thread I really think I have finally found the right bike for me each time I get on the bike I go faster and faster and faster than any thimes I have ever done a 125..

I really love this gas up and ride no gearing changes or anything its really good.
