Declared wet meetings?

Just wanted to check the rules on tyres for wet meetings, do you have to run wet tyres? or are the likes of supercorsas allowed to be used seen they have grooves?

Really my point is just that if you dont have wets on it will make life very differcult and even dangerous to yourself and other riders if you try to race on slicks or semi slicks.

If you get stuck at a meeting just ask around, come see me i may have an old set to sell cheap but generally theres always someone around to help

etc then i see people floudering around on a extremely wet circuit with no wets, to me this is way more careless and a danger to other riders...

Maybe for supersport but for 125's anything goes tyre wise. You can run wets in the dry and slicks in the wet, or any combination you can think of. As far as I understand the only difference after a meeting is declared wet is the officials will not stop a race if it starts to rain halfway through and everyone is on slicks. If however the meeting hasn't been declared wet and it pisses down then the officials will red flag the race and the normal restart rules etc will come into play. If it does get restarted then everyone will be given a fair amount of time to put their wets on.

my main point is i saw a heap of bikes crashing out cause they didnt have suitable tyres on, to me thats not fair if another rider was taken out due to this. Its like scrutineering, they dont let you ride with a loose steering head for instance cause it may cause you to crash but not half as much as slicks would on a wet track....

and just because they dont make a suitable tyre for a bike to suit conditions its not a valid argument imo when it comes to something like riders safty, if its not safe dont ride it....

Its not something i can ever see getting changed in the rulebooks id just think people should take it upon themselves to make sure your not making your racing more dangerous then it should be. Over the weekend i helped out a couple of guys with my old wet tyres and a couple more with just suggestion that its not worth the risk. Even the guy in the shed next to me, i told him to put his wets on but he didnt and he crashed first lap, so straight after practice i let him use all my gear so he could get them on asap

Its the mnz stewards who are trusted with making the judgement call if its too dangerous for someone to go out on slicks/dry tyres in the rain and if so they can stop them going out. It isn't always dodgy, just depends on the rider. I won a bucket race on slicks at levels on a drenched track on saturday, beating more than one bike riding on wets.

Mate, considering the limited time you have been road racing you can be well proud of your speed and having a sensible head on your shoulders, well in evidence over the weekend. Please encourage more ex puddle jumpers to cross over to road racing, the likes of you and Johnie ''Beserkhart'' have already enrichened the road race community.

1) Not sure if the post classic rules allow this?
2) 17" rear rims for certain bikes are like gold dust.
3) Nobody is gonna dictate to moi what tyres I should be using.

At Levels riders breifing the MNZ officals basicly said that they would allow slicks, its the riders choice. But if we started crashing they would only let treaded tyres on the track.

Funnily, the crashed bikes I saw either had full wets or road tyres. Both my bikes were on slicks and at the speed I was going, crashing through lack of momentum was my only threat.

Pre'82 &'89 wheels and tyres are open.......I run 17" CBR wheels on my '82 GSX400 Pre'82 bike.

Last trip to Levels I crashed in turn one on the warmup lap.......bloody buckets, the warm up lap is always the most competitive for good grid position.
