Aaah, I think you Akld guys won't be heading to Ohura, (unless Crisis is feeling particularly energetic).
The nthern crew will head to the bach under messer's Crisis/Cary/Trustme's lead, and the sthern crew will head to the bach guided by moi.
If all the ducks are in a row, we should get there about the same time. (kanny will be the there).

    Hi Mike

Thanks for the generous offer. Any chance of making it Thursday night instead??
I was thinking of spending Friday stooging around places like Tarata Rd/Kiwi Rd etc and spending Friday night at the Whanga pub (come on Mike - come to the pub for the night - you know you want to...) and then meeting Tri Boy et all at Ohura on Sat.

    Sunday morning ride options.

Depending on what the weather gods have planned regarding wind, etc (don't mention that other word), we have a couple of options.
(The closure of Hauturu Rd is a bugger, but we can work around it).

    1. From the bach, we head up to the Oparau service station up the road for fuel, then head up Pirongia West Rd, onto Te Raumoa rd, cross over hwy31 onto Kaimango rd, left onto Hauturu Rd and go checkout the slip, (we might be able to safely traverse it), other wise back track down to the start of Hauturu, onto Harbour Rd, and check out a view or two from different elevations.
If time is still with us, we can head out to Tahora via Harbour Rd, then right onto Whakapirau Rd, a seal section to Tahora, then a gravel rd to the coast for photo stops/play on the beach etc.

2 If we are late starters, and things are looking a bit miserable, we can skip the Tahora bit, and just do a loop using Kaimango, lower Hauturu, and a run back towards Oparau.
The southern crew have quite a few options to break sth, and we wouldn't have travelled too far sth for the nth crew.

there are a heap of great roads to be ridden sth, but they will have to wait for summer when daylight hours are with us.

These options can be extended, changed on Sunday, and hopefully everyone will ride a few roads they havn't been on.
    Cheers.

You got me! I was wondering how you were so nonchalant about riding all the way to Tahora, which is near Whangamomona.
One look at the map following your directions and I found Taharoa.
    Mystery solved.

    Ooops, typo/brain fart.
If I had only paid more attention in English class, and actually tried to understand Maori, then I might get a grip with all these place names/road signs.

How about an 8.30 meet up, this gives us time for a coffee and chat and a bit of a sort out of suitable routes as we seem to have a bit of a mixed bag of "attendees".
Basic plan is gravel down the west coast, lunch at Raglan then more gravelly bits to kawhia. we can extend or shorten routes to suit the time frame and peoples riding "styles".

(note the polite use of a euphimism for "waiting for scramblers to catch up")

Right, everyone got their wet weather gear out?

Mind you, 2 weeks ago we were expecting the storm of the century on the MMMM ride and it only rained (& snowed) a bit

Methinks a route following as many coffee stops as possible is called for!

    Evening meal etc.

Kanny is going with a hearty vege soup for starters, either just before dinner, or if we are a bit cold, as soon as you settle into the bach.
1 main course should be a casserole, and vege's/spuds etc, and a apple or fruit crumble with cream or custard for desert.
Breakfast, the usual I guess, eggs/sausages/bacon, with cereal and toast.
I'll do a booze run tomorrow, (taking out about 4 cartons, and cola etc).
Mattresses organised, and the scrabble board will be there.
Keep any Q's coming, and I'll answer PM's as quick as I can.
ETA at the bach for everyone on Sat arvo is approx 3pm.
If you need my mob# etc, PM me. Otherwise, see you lot on Sat.

    That muffler sounds great.
You can go in front, and scare the goats/steer's/sheep off the roads.
